Snowdrift (Malus x Snowdrift) isn't going to come true from seed...you will get a crabapple but it could be very different than the one you sowed. If it's really an ornamental tree of a certain size and habit you are looking for, best to buy a sapling - and it will be grown on grafted rootstock to reduce the tendency to sucker. The seeds should have been removed from the dried fruit. Will require approx 3 months moist chill; after chilling germination should take place in 1 - 2 months.

I went back to mixing Fresh Step, the old litter, with Tidy cat. ItÂs only been 3 days. I will have to check with my husband to see if he has picked up any "deposits" lately. I have not found any. She does not seem to be constipated. I bought some new hairball medicine, which is an oil I have been mixing with her wet food. Unlike all the others I have tried so far, she likes this one. I have been wondering if the oil will make her stool softer too. I started using that maybe 2 weeks ago. The hairballs have now stopped. The floor pooping predates the hairballs (which show up every year in the spring); but IÂm wondering if having hairballs could have caused the uptick in incidence I noticed. The newspaper mostly makes it easier to clean the box. When I dump it, it all slides easily into the garbage. But I have noticed (maybe this is me speculating) that she does not like the feeling of the plastic under the litter on her toes. When I have run out of paper she has objected (donÂt ask me how I know, she just comes to me with this lookÂ). I usually put a heavy sprinkle of baking soda under the paper. I find the paper, which goes up the sides too, wicks the moisture away from just the one spot and makes it dry faster. She does not cover what she does in the box and never has. Just does it and leaves. If IÂm nearby and smell it, I do it!

I don't have any answers, but keep us informed on how it goes. This is the same shrub that my Aunt in WV had blooming last month when we were up there and it had a wonderful fragrance. I asked her what it was and she called it a red bud bush but I looked it up and found the real name for it. (Maybe that's a local name for it up there?)

Hair, they could've, I had them just a bit under the soil in pots of potting soil on my porch, with no cover on them. WE had a zone 7a winter here last year in zone 6a Pa, our all time low was 3F, and most of the winter was really warm. But, if they sprout readily in zone 7a if seeds fall to the ground, there should've been no problem. i took them out of the red pulpy seed cover, and sowed them about a 1/4 inch down in the pots, which were about 1/2 gallon, or gallon size pots with drainage holes, using regular potting soil. Oh well, I got the seeds free from the trees in Va last Oct. I suck at growing things from seed except oaks, which are super easy. I've tried Bayberry bushes, Agaves and Yuccas (trunking Yuccas) all a waste of money, time and effort. Thanks anyway Hair.
