Great job!!!! pot them up in 4" pots (or the like) place them in a sunny location or under lights and DO NOT over water!!!!! Come Spring you will have a head start!

Congrats! Yep what she said. The trunk will keep growing and sometimes another main trunk will come up from the roots.

I guess that is where I messed up, I got my cuttings rooted in water, then potted them up. I put them in the greenhouse. I thought since it was so hot in the greenhouse, I had to water the plants everyday. I lost so many of the cuttings and all of the caladiums, they just rotted. Since this if my first experience with a greenhouse, should I let the plants dry out before watering them? Is there some rule of thumb, like water every 3rd day. Barbra,

Barbra..Remember there's already alot of humidity in a greenhouse...You don't have to water as often...Just check the soil first.

This time of year they need very little water...My dad is famous for overwatering...I have to get after him all the time.

I have a hard time judging when to water in the garage too. Depends on which potting soil I'm using. Some of it I found stays too wet and I lost a lot of cuttings that were fine outside but even with very limited watering they rotted inside. On the other hand I have another kind that drains and dries out too fast. I will never use different types again before winter. It makes it very difficult to decide which ones to water and I can't reach the ones in the back to poke my finger in the dirt without moving other plants. Its too crowded in there. Sticking your finger down in there is really the best way to check if they need water or not.

I lost one of my kongmansia cuttings to over watering. It just shriveled up and died. I just cut the top off of the one remaining. It's rooting now and the base is putting out new leaves. All the others are doing great.
