Is it under roof? Generally, you want them exposed to rain so preferably not under roof.

They should be OK anywhere in the room. Not sure about what your weather is like, but when it's warm just make sure your containers have plenty of air vents if the sun will hit them.

I keep mine on the north side of my house, on a patio, where they get only a little morning sun. The rest of the day they're in shade.

Since you are in a warmer climate, you just need to be sure your containers don't dry out or overheat when the weather warms in spring. By then, dappled shade or shade might be better than full sun.

I put my containers on my screened porch. I water the containers by hand - I don't count on rain.

As long as they get some light (mine get late afternoon sun), they will be fine. I like using my porch because I never get slugs, squirrels, etc. in my containers.

The only drawback is that when they need watering. I only find that a problem as the temps get warmer. By that time, I start moving them little by little outside (onto tables) and soon enough, I am ready to transplant. I don't put my jugs on the ground, but many do and have huge successes. I also have tons of deer/rabbits, etc. and feel safer with my method.

Yes, that does help. Since our "winter" weather varies so much from warm to cool to occasional cold, I think it might be better to not set them on the south side.

The roof is deck boards - with about a 1/2" gap between boards. I suspect I'll be doing a lot of hand watering, though I hope to do it all with bottom watering.

I plan to fill a large, flat container with a few inches of water and set the jugs inside for a few minutes. That's how I watered the things I sowed this fall.

Last year was my 1st year Wsing, I moved my containers around 3 times until I settled on the east side of the house, which is the back side so it was nice and private and not visible from the street. 158 containers is a lot, of assorted sizes, shapes, spread out on cardboard or in various boxes and trays, then I moved them around, opened and closed them, threw empty ones around, cut tops off - gotta admit it looked like a mess for months! hehe. On the east side they got morning sun until about noon or 1 pm which was perfect. And we get pretty regular precipitation here, so I rarely had to water.

In April I started sowing the tender annuals, warm season grasses, and veggies and put them just around the corner of the house on the south side, against the foundation which was warmer and more protected from frost. However because they were under the overhang I DID have to water those more frequently.
