You could try using Superthrive when you water. I water my seedling with a watering can 'most' of the time. When I'm feeling lazy I use the mist setting on my hose and mist the soil. Anyway, you could add Superthrive to the water in the can or attach a hose end sprayer and feed them that way. There are alot of gardenweb members who swear by Superthrive. When I used it I didn't see much difference, but maybe I just didn't give it enough time - I only watered with it a couple times very early in the growing season. You can find it at Walmart.

Hi there Dan and a warm welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will find lots of useful info here and make some good on-line pals too. Glad you have crept out of the shadows to join us, lol! You have nothing to loose by trying with your 'home-made' seeds other than a few minutes of your time and a tray of compost so why not have a go, especially as they can germinate very quickly being so fresh (I have had them pop in 4 days) so you will soon know if any are viable. It's great fun to see the fat seedlings emerge and grow on. Let us know how you go on if you decide to sow them please as it's good to hear about everyones experiences. Growing figs from seeds is NOT recommended; unless one is an EXPERT breeder with plenty of space/patiece! I once grew (like weed) seeds from dried-figs (any store) just for the sake of 'seeing' them fig seedlings, then destroyed as I know that they do NOT breed true, and the chances of getting a same/superior new fig cultivar are (on average)1000:1...

I'm not sure if it's been tried before. I have 3 small plants growing now. The seedlings are just beginning to look like passionflowers but it's still hard to tell which plant they resemble. The other successful cross has been P. vitifolia and P. incarnata. With P. Incarnata as female, every single pollination has produced fruit. With P. vitifolia as female, the percentage of successful pollination is less. If you own both of these you can successfully produce some fruit on both plants. I just harvested a fruit from P. incarnata x P. vitifolia pollination and it was delicious, tasted like banana/pineapple.
