Reblooming!! 'Sweet Lilian', 'Jungle Star' and 'Flamingo Star'

Sure it's wonderful to see the newly acquired bulbs give a fantastic display of blooms but I think it's just as rewarding, if not even more, to get the older ones to blossom.

I've been excited and a bit nervous even to see the flowers; their color, the number of flowers etc. will tell if I have succeeded or failed in their care...

'Flamingo Star' was the first to open and so far so good; ok amount of flowers and they are of decent color -

Next was 'Sweet Lilian' and what a sweetie she is, I've been admiring her all day, every day, whenever it's possible -

Hi Everyone, Some Oldies but Goodies are now blooming for me, some of these bulbs I have had for close to 10 years and they never disappoint!! Of course, Apple Blossom, I'm sure everyone has one of these, mine bloomed a deeper pink this year than ever before and she's fragrant also.... From FLAMING PEACOCK and Amsterdam, came to me as a mislabel, but has proven to be very giving, one good trait of this one is that all 4 four flowers are now out at one time, for a bouquet effect. From FLAMING PEACOCK and Blossom Peacock, has been disappointing in that the color is pale, the first year I had this gorgeous 4 flower bloom all at once and since then the color has gone down hill. Is a very good multiplier though and who can argue with that fragrance........... From FLAMING PEACOCK and of course Lady Jane, somehow I ended up with another this year under the name of Madrid, and now I have 3, but it would be hard to part with one of these...From FLAMING PEACOCK and my beautiful Noid Pink that I am putting Papilio pollen on and crossing my fingers as I can just envision this color with burgundy stripes and the butterfly shape.... From FLAMING PEACOCK and Elvas which doesn't do well for me, have had 2 bulbs for several years and the flowers are always small and the stems are always short but she takes a good picture...... Thank you Xuan! I've admired your hippies all this time I've been here... Jodi, Evergreen is really nice and it would be easy to get a hold of... Also Tango, Merengue and Reggae are great, and of course Ruby Meyer. Not to mention Tarantula... Shacoba... I could go on and on and... Royal Colors had some awesome looking cybs on their FB photos, hopefully those would become available some day. One of the things I'm very happy about is that the size of the flowers hasn't diminished in my care. Bogota for example measures a healthy 6.7 inches ( 17 cm )both ways, vertically and horizontally (upper part). A very handsome plant I'd say.

I think I'm like Debra, several of my dependable rebloomers didn't rebloom. Here is my list: Annabelles Blush Bill Norris Blue Eyed Butterfly Buttermilk Moon Caribbean Eye Spy Clown Parade sent up a scape, but the blooms dried up during that hot spell we had. Been a few days since I checked the forums... "In the ground they remain moist so I wondered if you'd tried keeping them in pots if damp medium in a cold but not freezing spot?" No, I packed the roots in freezer bags filled with hamster bedding & added just enough water to moisten the medium. That method has worked well to over-winter other bulbs. I had considered transplanting the roots into pots, but the roots spread so much that damage is unavoidable during lifting, so I doubt the results would be any better. Had Annette not sent me fresh seed, and had Big_gee stopped offering, I might have tried it. "Runners are usually eaten as green beans here and all the photos show beans which I would consider past the point where I'd harvest them for that purpose." The purple color develops late, at its darkest when the pods have swollen. The mature pods are nearly black now. When the pods reached snap stage in my garden, they were green, or just lightly blushed with purple. Floral_uk, those are really beautiful beans. If I could get pods like that, I would probably eat more runner beans as snaps... but in my climate, the "French" beans are much more productive. I still eat a few runner bean snaps late in the season. For the most part, though, I eat runner beans as shellies. Some are better for that purpose than others, Gigandes & Insuk's Wang Kong are my favorites. I'll be testing some APS that way when frost approaches... which apparently will be later than usual this year.

I had a photo of 'Jungle Star' in the pipes so to speak but the system doesn't let me send it... well, I'll keep on trying...

Wow Leena, they are really beautiful! I have a Lima in bloom but I don't have a Jungle Star...always wanted one but, Lima is a good second choice.

Your Sweet Lilian is really soft and beautiful. Yesterday I found a Sweet Lillian in a nursery so I'm really happy about that as long as it's not a mislabel...hope it looks as sweet as yours!

Thanks girls! :D I'm so happy to see these flowers, it feels really nice.

I hope I have better luck with Jungle Star tomorrow. I'll take new photos, hopefully the system will let me post them then. The flowers have just opened so they should still be in good form.

Success, finally, today!
When I got home from work there was no time to change, I just grabbed the camera and Jungle Star and to the session in the veranda we went...
The weather was favourable too; I was able to catch the last rays of sunlight; there it is, November sun, at 3 pm, flickering in the photos!

Your Jungle star is beautiful, I've never seen one with so much green in it, I love it! It almost looks like another variety! And, your pictures are awesome as always....

Donna I was surprised about the amount of green also. It was visible in the bud phase already. I have no explanation for this but I love it too!! - My Jungle Star is from Royal Colors, it came last year, or was it in the spring? Unfortunately they don't have it right now but Rio Negro they do (and I don't...)

Jodik, yes, they are truly inspirational subjects, I love photographing them. They make the long winter months almost tolerable... ( I hate it cold.)

Hooray, I've just discovered one more new flower scape! 'Santiago' is going to delight us with flowers this winter, how wonderful! She blossomed with three scapes last spring and I was expecting flowers only in summer if even then.

Next rebloomer to blossom will be 'Bogota'. I love Bogota. There's something so wild and fierce about it... I love it.

And after Bogota it will be Red Lion and Fairytale. :D

I'm not a cold weather person, either! I detest winter, with snow and ice, and wind that bites and seems to go right through you! Having lupus makes it worse for me... my joints and bones just can't handle it, and the older I get, the worse it seems. If it weren't for my little indoor garden, and my other hobbies, I don't know how I'd get through it!

I keep the thought in mind, though, that my lovely Lilacs and other outdoor garden plants require that cold dormancy in order to bloom in spring... and I do love spring!

Can't wait to see more photos!
