Im surprised i havent read no where on this site or rthe other of anyone growing florida pink. These huge, 2 to 3 lb fruits are a gorgeous light pink. Extremely juicy, sweet and crack free, Florida Pink out-produces most plants in our garden. With very few seeds, huge production and great flavor, it is a favorite for cooking and fresh eating. Setting fruit well in hot areas, this beautiful tomato will be a fine addition to your garden. thats what laurel says about it. rowdy red is another i think will do well im growing. Named by Gary Ibsen, the seeds of this variety came to Gary from tomato breeder, Archie Millett, who crossed his favorite tomato varieties over many years to finally produce a disease resistant tomato with intense flavor. 'Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red,' is an open-pollinated tomato (78 days to maturity). The tall, indeterminate, plant produces lots of 2-inch (6-10 oz.), deep-red, round fruits with a subtle point on it's end. Fruit has robust, 'not for sissies,' bold, tomatoey flavors, with a firm, juicy flesh, that invites snacking in the garden, cooking, canning and seed-saving. Thanks Scott et al for your insights on these. I have not (knock wood) had a big insect munching problem on my hostas. There is a small poorly leafed purple ornamental plum tree in the center of my hosta garden, and a large oak tree about 10 feet outside the garden, in the grassy strip by the curb. The large oak tree overshadows the plum tree and general area by the afternoon, so only morning sun is sort of more direct on my hosta garden. Last year, all my hostas did fine, as did impatiens and purple petunias, if that gives you any idea of the light level. Tiny hostas are fine, it's a small area. Empress Wu I don't need, heh-heh.

If you read the blurbs, it is only intermediate resistance, not immunity. You MUST protect the plants to some degree or they will always go down with TYLC. There are some varieties available now that have more stacked resistance genes. Four genes are in current literature ty-1, ty-2, ty-3, and ty-4. Check the Florida breeding program for some details. One of the new resistance mechanisms is plants that repel whiteflies. Combine this with some of the virus tolerance genes and we should have tomatoes that grow and produce regardless of whitefly presence. The Florida breeding program is working on this but may be a few years away from highly resistant plants.

I picked up a little planter with this mini rose in it, hoping to plant it in my strawberry pot (I see no one commented on my previous post). Davesgarden says it's BS susceptible. One person posted it's hardy. Davesgarden says it only gets 6-12" tall. And I see there are 4 little rose bushes in the little 5" pot I bought. Would this do well in the 8" diameter top opening of my strawberry pot? Is it super-susceptible to BS? Would I plant all 4 little plants in the top of the strawberry pot?
