Hallo all Amaryllisfriends

Perhaps you know me, but I am still searching seeds from Hippeastrum species.

Are there also other people who searching seeds?

Perhaps we can exchange some.

By my limited experience seeds from Mauro Peixoto, Brazil, germinate incredibly well and produce healthy and vigorous seedlings. I highly recommend Mauro.

I have some seeds from him at the moment, just waiting to be sown - or floated, I prefer the floating method, and I wouldn't necessarily need them all... but it depends on which species you are after of course.

Growing hippeastrum from seed is incredibly fascinating!

indeed, I know Mauro very well. I have bought lots of seeds from him and have now several species and hybrids from him. thank you

Bill I don't know where you read about it being difficult to breed for a white hippie but maybe the difficulty came from trying to get a large tetraploid shape flower. Most white species hippeasrum appear to be slender trumpets. I'm just speculating. Ashley/AJ

Maida, I am so jealous!! I bought one of those last year too from Telos and recently mine lost all its roots so I pulled it up, hopefully in time to save it and did my best to clean it off but it hasn't set any new roots yet. My bulb has shrunken a bit but is still hard and I don't detect any rot. You obviously did something right that I didn't do!! I am dismayed that I couldn't grow this bulb properly as it came to me with nice roots as I'm sure yours did. Looks like you've got plenty of pollen so you can have some fun with it and good luck picking a suitable partner! Donna

I'm also after species seed, or bulbs if in Australia, I'm in Adelaide. I already have Papillio, Mandonii, Reticulatum, Cybister-Bogota, Cybister-Sumatra, Equstre, Worsleya Rayneri and Griffinia Liboniana. Would love more of the above or anything else, Cheers.
