I think I woke up in Kansas

Looking out the window is depressing. Looks like pictures of Mars. Grass is brown, leaves falling from the trees are brown, dirt is brown when I dig a hole to plant something and is the consistency of Saharan sand. The wind blows constantly. It's like I fell asleep in Connecticut and woke up in Kansas during the dust bowl.

New England is known for drastic weather patterns and sudden weather changes. It's the basis for the old saying: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute--it'll change. Well, not this year. It didn't rain in June or July (where I am, at least) and rained just once in August. We're more than halfway through September with just a light shower of rain over the weekend.

Anybody else having these same or similar drought conditions?
