Linda, Thanks! Who knows how many were 'mine' as I actually sent a bunch of 'my' offsprings' eggs up to a teacher in the Central California area who raised 'em then drove them to people in the Central CA area to be released...in fact, some are being released this week in Pismo Beach at THEIR overwintering site! Chelsea LOVED the walk and she got to see the butterflies, too. I couldn't believe that dogs were allowed along the paths to the sanctuary. It was marvelous, to be sure.

I'm sure people will want to see your pictures. Greg Southern Nevada I thought that I'd post a quick little tutorial on how to embed your pictures in your posts on the forums here at GW. I wish it could be a sticky note but that's not possible. I feel that it's almost imperative to post pictures to assist in describing whatever problem you may be having with your plants. Everyday you read where someone writes something to the effect: "The leaves on my squash are turning brown, what could be the problem?" A picture would help those who are "trying to help you" identify what the problem could be. Everyone today has a digital camera that they use to take snaps of their families - vacations - etc. To view them you most often download them to your computer so you already have half the battle won. To get them to the point of putting them here on GW is as follows: First they must be uploaded to a photo hosting site. I use Photobucket as it's extremely simple and is free so I'll use them as an example. Once you sign-up and become a member you need to upload the pictures you want to post in to Photobucket. Create an album and assign it whatever name you want to call it, say "Garden." You'll see a button in the center of the screen called "Upload Images And Videos." Click on that button and a small window will open that has the contents of your computer in it. You want to go to wherever you keep your pictures and select the ones you want to post in GW. Then hit the "Open" button and the pictures will begin to upload to your album in Photobucket. Once they're there it's easy to put them in your post. Just go to the picture you want and hold your cursor over it. This will open a drop-down window below your picture that has various codes: Email & IM Direct Link HTML Code IMG Code Highlight the HTML Code, press and hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard while you press the letter C. This cuts the HTML code that you need to put your picture in your post. Now go to the message you want to post in GW. Put your cursor in your message body where you want to place the picture. Now you want to Paste the HTML Code in your message. To do this you press and hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard and then hit the letter V. This will place the code in your message body. To check and see your picture push the "Preview Message" button and there it is. So now you know how to post pictures in your posts on GW. If you're having a problem with your plants and want some help, go out and snap a picture or two. This will greatly help others who wish to help you and make sure that you're getting the most accurate help.

There is a lot of overlap between the services of an architect and the services of a designer, and there can be a tremendous difference between any two people having the same title whether that of architect or of designer. In either case you can find pie-in-the-sky dreamers who can draw lovely designs without understanding basic construction or traffic flow, or you can find a jewel who can take your ideas, improve on them, and follow through with skill and knowledge. You will also find a considerable sliding scale of $$, depending on how much is involved. Least $ is taking your plans and drawing them into usable blueprints. Most $$ will be the guy who takes you plans, improves them, re-draws until you are satisfied, does the blueprints, and checks during construction to be sure there are no problems; quite often coming up with sources for materials and subs. If you are absolutely positive that you have thought of everything you want and it's the way you want it, you should swing your plans past a building engineer who is both aware of safety requirements as well as what is needed to satisfy local building codes. Do this even if your state does not require it. It's lots easier to know in advance that a balcony requires specific stress supports that it is to add those supports after it fails the inspection. Ask around locally for recommendations, and absolutely do not go with anyone who has no recommendation and/or with whom you are not comfortable with when explaining your needs. Like buying a car, you need to do some looking and some research before choosing, and make sure all the options are listed. If a firm or group is recommended, get specific because it is possible to have an intern or apprentice doing most of the work under the group name (inexperience is not necessarily bad, but it is something to be aware of).

Hi everyone, Thank you for all of the compliments - it means a lot from this forum:) The pulls are not very deep but do have a solid heavy feel, so if depth is an isue they may not be for everyone but we both have slim digitis - my hubby more so than I. We do NOT touch the doors using the pulls if that helps. Also our cab co. markets these as full overlay but they obviously are not but boy are they well made - shoud last 100 years. Our GC said they needed no adjustments at all to hang perfectly - perfectly square. And solid as a rock. You could Kahle's and ask - they are in PA. I bet they would be happy to answer any questions. Or Bill at J&L lumber in New castle DE (he is SO sick of me so don't mention me:). At Avalon the tile (floor and BS) was a bit under $10/sq ft price wise (closer to $6 I think) - good bargains. They are only in this area.
