As I was driving home, my eye caught this:

Naturally I HAD to grab the camera and just took one shot after another...of course NOT looking through the lense hahaha I am not that good of a driver roflmao.

All the others were a little crooked lol. But this one is perfect to share with you today.

Dorothy I only follow the don't drink and drive thing lol. Unless they come out with a law forbidding it. Oh but something really funny happened while I took pictures while driving. I just remembered and GOT to share that too hahahaha
Not only did I take pictures out the window to the left. Where I got this one. NO, I also shot straight ahead. WITH flash . Of course. the guy in front of me slowed down so much he was almost crawling roflmao. He even kept that up after I had passed him! Now do I look like a cop?

Arctictropical, does the box going over the bananas also have the fluorescent light fixture in them to provide heat like the palm one? It must and it appears it's just enough heat to make a difference. Can I ask what kind of light fixtures the screw-in flourescent bulbs screw into? Did you just buy a socket, some wiring, etc and create your own light fixture? I am tempted to try this and perhaps I should look into buying a cold hardy palm. Regarding bananas, I obtained a plant of musa basjoo this year (Japanese fibre banana) and the root supposedly survives -20C/-5F or colder if well mulched. It likely wouldn't survive here mulched, just too cold for too long, but if covered with a box and the light for a bit of warmth to keep the soil warm, who knows? Glen

Interesting I see there are 4 heat zones in my state. Im in heat zone 1, I don't have to go far for that to change. I can see how it can make a big difference Thank you for the link Seysonn its something Ill use for future reference. Ive been growing hots for 25 years always in the same aria . Surrounded by water keeps me 10 degrees cooler then just 10 miles up the road. Good place to get a most excellent fruit set. Ive seen it 100 in Phily . and stay in the high 80s here, Very useful information

Maggie, your DS looks so excited! The first day of school is such a big deal!! I think it's much harder on Mom than your DS. lol Grace is a sweetie. I don't think she looks like an old woman! Here's what my area looks like. I actually live in what's known as 'Historic Mystic' but that's confusing because there's no such jurisdiction. Half of 'Historic Mystic' is in Groton & the other half is in Stonington. I live on the Stonington side. Exactly where 'Historic Mystic' is causes a fuss so the USPS has given us our own zipcode. That causes even more confusion. I have trouble getting packages delivered properly. I've even had Sears tell me, "Nope, we can't go THERE to service your refrigerator!" Aargh DH's tide watch needs a new battery so I took it here...to Stonington Boro. Stonington Boro is a one street wonder. Here it is looking the other direction. I like New England architecture. Here's a few of the houses in the Boro. I love these windows but am glad cleaning the salt film off is not my job. It's beautiful during the holidays with wreaths & candles. I drove down a couple blocks to turn around at Stonington Point. There was a group of nine kayakers (sp?)...very picturesque. Here's where we are...if you look at the piece of land between Stonington & Mystic...I live on the 3rd little penninsula counting from the left. Stonington Point is a neat spot. You can see 3 different states (Fisher Island, New York, Stonington, CT, & Watch Hill, Rhode Island). Next, I went here...to the Mystic Inn to meet a marina friend for lunch. This is where Lauren Baccal & Humphrey Bogart spent their extended honeymoon after getting married in Ohio. It's known as the "Mansion" & is now a part of the Inn. The restaurant is in another building (Floodtide Restaurant) & is very good. There are four rooms in the "Mansion" on the second floor. Guests are free to use the first floor which includes this music room w/piano; a parlor w/huge fireplace & library; the dining room (either order from the restaurant or prepare your own meal); & the kitchen. The kitchen's wonderful. Circa 1905 & pretty much original except for new appliances. Guests can cook there if they want to but I can't imagine anybody actually fixing scrambled eggs in the morning? The Inn serves rolls/coffee/juice in the morning & tea sandwiches are available from trays between 4:00-5:00 p.m. It's a bit of a hike down the hill to the restaurant from the "Mansion" but a very beautiful place to spend a get-a-way weekend. The gardens are spectacular. I wanted to snap some photos but staff was bustling about getting ready for a wedding & I felt like an intruder. :( The Inn keeps a Rolls Royce to shuttle you around Mystic & Stonington Boro. Despite this rather formal Inn this is a very casual area. I showed you the Inn because that's how we came to live here. We'd come down from NH for a weekend & stayed at the Inn. We sat on the lawn for hours looking over a marina & the Sound beyond. Little did we know then that several years later we'd end up with a house 1/4 mile from the Inn & keep our boat in the same marina we'd watched on our first visit. Serendipity. It's a long ways from Fresno; but I like it here. /tricia

Annie.... Ashley was just asking a logical question wasn't she LOL! But it's so true that tourists....often strong German men.....underestimate the strength of the undertow on the open Atlantic and there are drownings here, of either swimmers or people being swept off rocks when they get closer than they should. I just came back from a little walk down to a lookout point near our house and as it's late in the day, I caught an evening cloud over the volcano, as well as a look over the edge to one of the downtown beaches. Here's the volcano,and here it is 6 minutes later, taken from another vantage point. The clouds have totally changed formation. (Click will enlarge.) Here's the view looking downtown to one of the beaches and the developed pool area with nightclub in the centre of the artificial lake, all together called The Lido, then a closeup of same. (Click will enlarge.) In the second photo you can see that the waves are still very large here as the islands are all on 'orange alert' which is one step below red alert or extreme danger from the seas. And in a calmer note, I decided to make better use of the lovely little two-tiered Moroccan cake plate I bought at Laura Ashley, since we buy cake one piece as a time, so I put it into the little tree outside my computer room window where the birds congregate every day. I filled it with dry cat food and set my camera up on my desk. Only had to wait a few minutes before they noticed that their food was now up in the tree! I hope to get some wild bird feed for the smaller birds and wild canaries as they also abound here. They came to check out the cat food but the biggies chased them away. My x mas gift. A Sony Cypershot. with 10x zoom and 3 MP. That is all we could afford and all I really need for what I want to take pictures of.

Lucy, that is a beautiful sunset, THANKS!!! That is funny about you taking a picture with the flash and the guy in front of you thinking you were a policeman, LOL! At first I thought you were going to say that you got blinded by the flash reflecting off the windshield -- glad that wasn't the case.

We were thinking alike once again. My DD and I were stuck in Austin traffic and the sunset was just spectacular so I took some pictures of it from the car also. Can you believe we were taking pictures at the same time at the same sunset. But I had the advantage of using both hands since I was a passenger. LOL Glad I was on the west side of the car. My obstacles were cars in the other lanes getting in the way of the view. My camera didn't capture the beauty of the pinks, oranges, magenta against the crystal blue sky so use your imaginations.

Wow thats cool you were both taking pics at the same time. I like to take pics in the car. Every time we take a trip I have to download lall the pics to make room for more when we get there. Especially in the spring when there are flowers blooming everywhere. I might have to quick snap 10 to get one decent one at 70mph, lol. I have the cybershot too and love it.

Theresa, I am surprised that you don't have frogs with your pond. I had a pond at my old house, I made the mistake of putting it under my bedroom window. I heard frog noises all the time!!! I still have to laugh (tho it was a very sad time for me) when my father passed away his handicapped brother in his leg braces was in the backyard catching frogs and throwing them over then fence so he could get some sleep. We all had to laugh, did he think he could catch them all or that they wouldn't come right back?
