Hi all, Not sure if this is considered plant or seeds... I am looking for air potatoes (Dioscorea bulbifera or alata - doesn't matter which one as they have similar foliage). My vine did not produce one single bulb this year. For trade I currently have fresh turmeric (Curcuma longata) rhizomes (with shoots), mixed brugmansia cuttings and mixed plumeria top and center cuttings. Thank you much! I see them now and then at Bachman's. Back when I grew a lot of them, I got all mine mail order, and was always pleased with them. Then have no soil roots, so they ship very easily. I don't grow them now, since I moved, and the water here is terrible. BTW, I'm not sure if you realize this, but even though they are often called air plants, they don't just live on air, but need water, and perhaps the tiniest bit of fertilizer. The gray forms are the easiest to care for, and Tillandsia ionantha is virtually indestructible. Tillandsia bulbosa was the most difficult one I grew.

I found mine at a flea market many years ago. Had never seen them anywhere else. I found some old potatoes the other day and I'm going to see if they will take off. If they do, I can send you one. I would never bathe them. I have a lot of tillandsia myself, but I have never grown them indoors - are yours inside or outside? They can tolerate some cold temperatures but do not like frost. I have most of mine hanging in a tree, either mounted on wood or suspended by soft wires. They do benefit from having good air circulation, and they like humidity, if it is not cold. When it is warm, they can be misted fairly often. I spray mine with water about two or three times a week, and the only one I've had a problem with is Spanish moss - probably because I do not water it enough. I have never submerged any of mine in water, even when I first get them, but I do water them with the mist setting on my hose. My climate is mild, with low temperatures in January so far this year in the 50s F, and in the summer it seldom gets above 85°F. It was 82° here a couple of days ago, however, and so our temperatures do not vary that much seasonally.
