The Dianthus seeds should germinate quickly and easily, no stratification required. Same for the Lychnis. I've read that they require darkness, that they require cold stratification, also that they require light! Doesn't seem to matter much, just sow and grow. I haven't tried the Shastas from seed, supposed to be easy. The Alpine Aster will require cold stratification, but you might get some germination especially with fresh seed. Two weeks in the fridge should be plenty. Or, you can just sow and keep it at around 40F and it will germinate at that temperature. Commercial seed won't have been pre-treated. It wouldn't do any good to cold stratify a year in advance, it needs to be done when the seed is to be germinated.

I just collect a few seed heads of things I think others might like to grow and a few for myself for the next year if they are annuals. I shouldn't say this here on the garden web but I toss most seeds in the trash as I am cleaning up my gardens ( take a deep breathe, stop gasping...lol). I was all ready to quibble and say that I thought Four-O'clocks were Mirabilis, not Clarkia, when I saw you'd got Mirabilis listed as Four-oclocks under annuals. The joy of common names! Have you ever grown clarkia? I understand they do OK here and are really attractive in part-shade. They also devoured a barberry, and hostas are out of the question. One day last winter we looked out our window and saw a doe eating birdseed out of one of our bird feeders! What's tasty is apparently a regional issue, also, so you might try checking your local (in my case, Maryland Cooperative Extension's Web site) extension service for a list of plants that are "deer candy" or avoided by deer in your area. I've had them nibble on Japanese white spiraea (Spiraea albiflora) and the usual tulip and hosta foliage. They prefer my neighbors grass. She has it professionally taken care of every week. I wish she would stop. Our yards are attached and they wander up this way frequently. Moved from California to Virginia last year, so much to learn! Deer are different in different areas. For example mule deer in CA usually won't touch impatiens, but white tail in VA LOVE it. I spent a lot of money to fence in my back yard. The only sure way. (I hope) Also, they won't eat my iris, but they eat certain daylilies, but not others.
