Yeah, but I like to wait until the stalks are brown, though, to collect sees.
Anyway, by then a lot of seeds would have fallen to the ground too.
I have tons of them in bloom in spring....then the perennial forget-me-not picks up the blooming sucession.

I pull the whole plant and hang it upside down to dry. I wrap newspaper or a paper bag around it to catch the seeds. That is, when I bother to collect them. Normally I just pull the seeds off and scatter them where I want them to grow next year.

thanks for the offer of the perennials, I do have a nice clump of them this year, they are first year so no flowers yet, am sooooooo looking forward to it.

How about lobelia cardinalis or great blue lobelia? I will have seeds for both. They are hummingbird magnets.

With annual one are you growing? I have the Chinese FMN and their seeds remain attached until I harvest them.... unless they attach themselves to passing people/animals. They turn brown at maturity. For the majority I just allow them to self-sow.
