I ws foxglove and there was no growth. It's still 1" tall even after 3 months. Not sure why. I planted it in shade. I really wanted to have foxglove. Is their first year always like that?

I'm doing some garden layout/designs now for my backyard. I'm thinking of buying some flagstone on craigslist. I just don't know how I will haul it to my house since I don't have a truck.

Your foxglove are probably biennials and next year will give you a wonderful display. They grow leaves the first year, flower the second, then most likely pass away. Be sure to save seeds.

What is the orange and blue in the second photo? I really like that combo. Is the orange cosmos?

Your Inulas are coming along just fine. What is the plant growing among them? The foliage contrast is nice. :O)

Yep, it's cosmic orange cosmos and bachelor's button.

The plants beside the Inulas are limelight 4 o'clocks, petunias, perovskia(not sure if it's visible).

About the foxglove, all 4 plants are 1 inch tall only. Not sure why it didn't grow.

That's an amazing set of pictures. In a few years the trees and shrubs will grow tall and it will be a very different garden. I put in some squiggly willow about ten years back, it's nearly twenty feet tall now--it's quite quick growing and the birds just love it for perching and twittering ;-)

I looked up Chelone from google and looks like it's the turtle head. I got them from Schaumburg last year from someone who thinned her garden. I noticed that it spreads. I will give you when I go to your place. :D

I met Ellen today at her place. Her garden is sooo beautiful! I brought home the Plume Poppy she promised me. I hope it makes it. :D

Your garden is really beautiful.

You might want to thin out all the side branches of the Scarlet Willow and leave only 1 straight stem so it will grow into a single trunk tree. That's what I am trying to do with mine, although the trunk is not very straight. Lol.
