Comments (4)Yes, knock it down for safety reason, if you think it's dangerous from getting stung, do it in the dark with a flashlight quick. They should all go somewhere else in day light,..give it a couple of days. The queen would probably start a new colony, worker bees might be joining other colonies like honey bees do, or at least live their lives as solitary bees, still helping to control pest insects and or pollinating etc....See MoreNew bald faced hornets nest, in a bad spot
Comments (2)Well, after much contemplation, I just knocked it down, and boy, is she pissed! Hopefully all will be calm in the area tomorrow morning. I'm going to try and avoid the area for as long as possible. The nest is on the ground. I'm hoping she decides to rebuild higher up, because if she builds back in the same spot, I'll have to kill her, which I really don't want to do :( Every webpage I looked at said to spray the nest. I just can't bring myself to do that....See MoreHornet's Nest
Comments (2)If you can easily reach it, wait until after dark and carefully cut the limb it is on and seal it in a plastic trash bag. Another option is to carefully cut it down at night and toss it into a fire(in a safe place!). Probably the easiest and safest way would be to saturate it with Raid! or other wasp & hornet spray, concentrating at the entrance. Do this at night when they are inside and inactive. This last method is the one I would use. Good luck!...See MoreThe Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest
Comments (14)I thought the first one started out slowly and I put it down for months; the second time I tried, I stuck with it, loved it and read all three; they are definitely to be read in order. It would be nice if the rumoured fourth book is eventually published. In the library world, some of the read-alikes being suggested are Jo Nesbo's detective books. As I recall, the first two in his Harry Hole series have not been translated to English. I'm reading the third, The Redbreast but am finding it slow going. Another book, Three Seconds by Anders Roslund, is also a psychological crime thriller type of plot....See MoreTRLambert
