oh those are so pretty so far only the red and pink have flowered for me. I am waiting on any sign of life from any of my broken colors one. Good Job

Are the broken colors scented?
I love Four O'Clocks. Some of mine are just about to bloom- if the JPs don't eat them all up.

Linda, the broken colors have a nice scent but you have to stick your nose right to the flower to smell them.
I have a plant of fushia that I got in a trade that is supposed to be strongly scented and hope to have lots of seeds from them for trades.

I love 4 o'clocks too and grow them for their beauty as well as a favorite for the JPs. I grow all of them in either 10 or 12 inch pots and move the 10 inch pots around the garden beds to keep the JP's from killing my malvas and roses.
In my gardens I get lots of JP's start to eat the 4 o'clock leaves and fall dead in the pots or on the ground. The leaves are toxic to the JP's. I love seeing them dead around the plants. Since I move them all around the yard, it might be that mine aren't getting as badly eaten as yours.
Can you put any of your plants into pots and see if that makes any difference for you?

Paula, be patient for the blooms, I've only had those 3 bloom on 8 different plants and I have 2 other kinds, a strongly scented fushia and tea time rose and they show no signs of buds yet.
Last year the broken colors where the slowest to bloom, but once they started, about a week after the first few blooms, they just kept blooming and blooming well into Oct.

The JPs seem to primarily be on the 4'Os that are growing in full sun, not the main ones I want which are in the front bed that is part shade. So that's working out well

The JPs DO seem to be on the 4OClocks more than any other plant! And yesterday, I did see one or two keeled over dead on the leaves. So the 4'Os must attract them, then kill them? That works out well, because all of the 4'Os I have are reseeders from WSing them two/three years ago-- and I have about twenty plants left after thinning out that many or more and tossing them out--hated to throw them away, but I couldn't find a taker :-(

In all, the leaves on 4'Os are naturally thick, so I think they plants will recover quickly. Once the JPs leave, I can clip off the top set of leaves/blooms, and the plants should still look ok.
Gotta love 4 OClocks...what a dependable, beautiful, useful plant! Thanks for the info on toxicity!
