Comments (1)I've had good luck 8 miles from you with Heritage Fall Gold. I cut the canes that have fruited to 8" and the new ones to 3" in late March and get a 2 stage harvest. Comments (9)That's what my first thoughts were. But if the trees are planted at 10' spacing on the row N/S it seems that some of them will be shaded somewhat after they grow a few years. Planting with the rows E/W there should be less shading with the rows 20' apart it seems to me. It probably won't make a bit of difference anyway. We've had some nice weather for a change and I was out trying to figure a plan while pulling a few winter weeds....See MoreNew SFG Layout - why trellis on north vs south?
Comments (6)The sun moves in an arc but it's never straight overhead. At noon or true midday the sun is south of directly overhead, I forgot the actual angle, and the angle changes depending where you are, but for NY/PA I'm thinking 22-33 degrees. Either way, it will cast shadows that run S to N at midday & beyond until the sun gets beyond true W (then it will cast shadows W to E and later NW to SE.) If you put the trellis at the S end, it will shadow things to the N of it. If you put it at the N end, it won't shadow the bed at all, at least not until close to sunset. Hope this helps....See MoreAugust in North Florida long w/photos
Comments (3)Enjoyed your story and pics! Too bad your scarlet snake was a DOR. I am always impressed with your pics. That was a really cool post you had a while back with pics of the red milks you found this year. I always look at your backgrounds. Elephant ear leaves, old boards, moss covered rocks. Some of those really make the snake stand out. I don't think everyone realizes how difficult it is to get a snake to cooperate sometimes!...See Moreanna_in_quebec
