Jodi's Tour Continues...

I hope you'll forgive me for the photographic tours that don't include hippeastrum blooms... I have none to share at the moment. The time will come soon enough, though, when my pictures will be of newly purchased bulbs... and the excitement of autumn's first large hybrid flower will burst forth!

I hope you enjoyed the latest garden tour! Things are growing and changing so rapidly, I can hardly keep up! I'm starting to have a hard time keeping up with the weeding, too! Weeds aside, the gardens are glorious! The faint scent of roses wafts across the yard... birds sing... butterflies are beginning to appear, helping with pollination! This is the most exciting time for the gardens, and for me! I just love it all so much... even the work involved!

Stay tuned for more! Mother Nature never shows the same scene twice!

I don't have much to show because my garden is small and my plants are commonplace. Otherwise I'd have joined you in showing it off too.

I think the second from the bottom is a O. macrocentra of some sort. Some will turn purple i winter if stressed by cold and drought. Also they will bloom yellow with an orange center. The upper one might be O. lindheimeri, some think it is a variant of O englemani, some say it is its own species. I am not sure about this. I have a hard time IDing Opuntias. I am sorry for not responding sooner. I have been on a two week trip in New Mexico. I hit HEAVEN in FULL fall glory. GORGEOUS beyond description. I took 1200 photos. The 8 G memory card made a monster out of me and now I am paying for it.. YES, I have returned with many unIdentified sharp little cuttings. A car burglar would have had an unpleasant surprise or two if they had gone fishing in my car. I am getting some of them potted up today. Others will need to wait a week.

LOL! we have been talking about bamboo at our house lately. With all the rain my dd thinks we could grow it on our farm. Kinda doubt that but she sure got a kick out of your seeing and hearing it grow comments. She would love to have bamboo here for some reason. I will be looking forward to more travels with Jodi.

LOL ... the post that refuses to die. :-) When I took my glue on nails off after about seven years. My nails were so messed up I thought they would never look normal. Really, really wish I had taken photos though because the difference after using the Nail Magic Botanical Nail Strengthener with Horsetail, is amazing. The trick to getting your nails back in shape ... at least my approach is ... when I wash my hair I really use my nails to shampoo. As soon as I get out of the shower I clean under my nails real good with one side of a pair of tweezers because they are always nearby. No matter how short your nails are, this visually makes them look longer. After they dry, I apply a thin coat of Nail Magic Botanical Nail Strengthener with Horsetail and let it dry, followed by one more thin coat. The most important thing at this point is to coat the nail, the tip and under the tip no matter how short your nails are. This keeps the nail from getting ragged and snagging stuff. As soon as that happens, I start peeling my nails and everything is lost. I clean my nails the same way every morning and by day three, they already look longer. I add another thin coat of polish every 3-4 days concentrating on the tips each time. Hope this helps someone. Jodi-

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the tour! Some of my plants are commonplace, Xuan, but they're still beautiful and worthy of showing off... especially since they can't be grown everywhere!

No, the Rhodesian Ridgebacks aren't mine... I raise Olde Bulldogges... the Ridgebacks outnumber the Bulldogs here by many... they're ok, but not my favorite dog. Some are really cute, though.

A very nice yard Jodi ! Love it, gave me some ideas for my yard in the future...
We just bough new house last Dec. with yard, did I said yard? Yeah with yard :0) , ( before we lived at apartment) not really big yard, but big enough to starting my own first vegetable garden this spring and view flower beds at front and back yard .
YourÂs Iris, Lily, daylily and roses are awesomeÂ.

Thank you, Lisa! I remember my very first home with a yard... I didn't know half of what I know now about gardening, but I dove in and began creating garden areas, filling them with perennials and bulbs... it looked pretty good, considering it was my first attempt at perennial gardening!

If there was any advice I could give a gardener just starting out, it would be... amend your soil before planting, as you're digging your beds... mulch well, and finally... research your plant choices before planting. If you begin with good soil, know what you're planting, and protect your gardens for winter, you'll have good success... and you'll be a happy gardener!
