Heres my blooms. (lots of pics)

Here is what has bloomed so far!

{{gwi:361760}} This milkweed has a little monarch caterpillar on it!!

{{gwi:343772}} No one on the Name that Plant forum can seem to ID this monarda species. i have scoured the internet an cant find any one that has the same flowers as it.

Beautiful flowers, Philmont! Did you end up with any trees, too, or did the tree rats get them all?

Jill...you must have been posting at the same time I was, I missed you, sorry! :) Glad you enjoyed my dl's. Tammy...I'm sorry, I failed to answer your question about my camera. It's a Fuji Finepix S700. The macro and super macro capabilities are wonderful as is the 10x optical zoom. It really lets you get up close and personal with your blooms. LOL Shelly....I totally understand, my list just keep growing and growing and growing..kind of like that Energizer bunny, you know? :) I've had MM for a couple of years now, and it's really struttin it's stuff this season. FT is brand new and that was the FFO on it. It's one of my brightest dl's. Chris....You're gonna love AS, it's one of my favs, but then I've got so many fav's!! My patio gets a lot of use because in the summer its my main living room! I sit out there, cook out there and of course, sort my daylily shipments out there. Plus the view of the hill in back of the patio, where you can see the zinnias and roses now, is directly off my office window so I have something really nice to look out at when I am working at my computer. Debra, glad I could inspire you to plant Off Beat. Thanks for you compliments on my picture of Classic Edge. I did do a better job with my pictures this time around than with the ones I posted of what was blooming last time. A liitle practice goes a long way! Unfortunately, I don't think I will be practicing my daylily picture skills anytime soon as there isn't anything blooming to take pictures of!! Of my older daylilies that I had there before this springs daylily craze hit, Rocket City is my favorite.

Thanks everyone! I have three daughters who all appreciate quilts so it will be in good hands. Teresa, I'm in Kansas so I won't be able to get to NC for an appraiser. I have contacted a local appraiser though thanks to msmeow's links. I just have to wonder, when did Great, Great Grandmother Ann have time to do this needlework?! Farm wife in the 1850's. incredible!

Oh yes, I did end up with alot of trees! But the squirrels did get alot. They completely wiped out all of my Black Walnuts. I have found like 3 of them in my neighbors beds. one from last year is nearing 5 feet now. lol. my only sassafras died in the heat. but i did get many survivors. around 20 American Chestnuts, 2 Chinese Chestnuts, 1 American Hophornbeam, a few Sugar Maples, 1 Boxelder Maple, 1 Silver Maple, 2 Hickories, many Northern Red Oaks, many Pin Oaks, a few Chestnut Oaks, a few Sweetgums, Some Spicebush, a few Black Cherries, probably over 10 Ohio Buckeyes, 5 or 6 Eastern Redbuds, around 7 Honey Locust, 1 Green Ash, a couple Persimmon, maybe 8 Pawpaws, 2 Kentucky Coffee Trees. I am planning on planting many of them during my Eagle Project.

Your successes are beautiful. I love the monarda and wonder if you have developed a new strain. The columbine are really nice too. I love them all. Great pictures.

Your flowers look great and I'm very impressed with your list of trees. I sure wish I had some of those right now so I could put a barrier between me and my evil neighbors. LOL. Your mondarda looks like the seed may have been crossed (they don't call it bee balm for nuthin') so you possibly have a new variety. We can call it Phil's Peppermint. :)

Wow, you have been busy! :-) Everything looks great! I especially love the flower right above the monarda, what is that? Are those cup and flower plants..campanula medium, in the ninth from the top pic? Nice butterfly weed bloom. How exciting that you have monarch caterpillars!

I'm so happy for you that you managed to keep some tree seedlings from the darn squirrels. Looks like you are having a great gardening year.

If I was you I'd see if you might have discovered a new Monarda variety. What was your source of the seed?

The monarch isn't in the photo shown, i tried getting a picture but it was way to blurry.
I hope its a new variety! I have always wanted to discover a new species or variety of a plant. Where would I be able to find out if its a new variety?? I found the seeds from a seedpod in the wild. But I cant remember where. Somewhere in Ohio I'm pretty sure, but it could be Kentucky.
