I'm suggesting that the 10% KBG that you already planted will fill in the bare spots. As to the color variation, I'm guessing that you can account for that between the variety of grasses, the other crop, and the weeds. If that is okay with you then I think you are good to go. Just give the KBG time to fill in. Mulch mow it high and water infrequently and deeply as you can. Fertilize again on Memorial Day and the whole yard should green up. There will be color variation but perhaps less variation than you see now. You should see significant improvement in density by then, too. For others who are reading this, the photos are an example of what that quality of grass seed looks like after it comes in. It is very possible to buy pure seed with no other crop or weeds. I don't have a good anwser for you(I usually leave mine in an unheated greenhouse in it's pot), but I did notice that the ones I cut or divided had a poorer survival rate, so part of the sikkimensis issue might have been from the cutting.

My doctor did a blood test for magnesium and potassium levels because of the terrible leg cramps I've been having off and on. The tests said that both are fine. I don't think my calcium levels are low either because I have enough in my diet, but I haven't had that tested. I suspect that dehydration may be contributing - one time they occurred just after flying to Europe and those long flights can be very dehydrating. But drinking a lot to stay hydrated doesn't seem to solve the problem. Barb, what is "the soap thing"? These really can be terribly painful. The worst for me is that I sometimes get them in opposing muscles at the same time, e.g. in the arch and the top of the foot or the shin and the calf at the same time, so I can't do a stretch. Heat is the only way I've found that works to relax the cramping muscles once it's happening.

I an a novice banana owner, and haven't actually had any go to fruit yet. So I do not know which variety to recommend. Thank you for posting though, as I am very excited about the apple banana I bought earlier this year, and is doing great! I also have a thousand fingers banana my neighbor gave me. I will let you know if it fruits this year. I was really upset after I lost my second ice cream banana, but your review makes me feel better about it! Maybe you can pick up a few bananas at the grocery store or farmer's markets to taste different varieties? I know there isn't usually much variety there, but sometimes Safeway surprises me. Also if you ever see a Manini banana, there is a company in Hawaii that sells them, I will pay you to pick one up for me! They are amazing! Look them up! Also called ae' ae'. Don't know about the fruit, but the plant is just gorgeous!
