Hi garyfla. Wow, this is an old post, good to see you! I ordered from dragonflyaquatics dot com back then and have continued every year since (well, with the exception of last yr when I broke my leg and couldn't get out to piddle in my puddle). In fact, just yesterday I was pondering this years order. I need to get on that.. I've had an excellent experience with them and their customer service is nonpareil. Some time back, I realized a few hours after I placed my order online I'd left an item off and called to add it. My order had already shipped (!) but they shipped my addition out the next day and even tossed in some plant weights 'for my trouble' when it was totally my issue, not theirs. I give them a strong recommend. Hope this helps.

"decent size perennial roots"...are you then looking for bare root plants? For things readily available, not rare or brand new to the trade, I shop nurseries for best value. Keep in mind that it's possible to buy things that could be divided when getting them home to install in the ground, stretching your shopping dollar that way. You can see for yourself how vigorous the plants are, and support your local community at the same time. There are several places I can recommend from experience for those things more difficult to locate you may not want to wait on to be more widely available, but none come to mind that ship bare root, including Forest Farm.

Johnny's in Albion, Maine is probably your best bet. I got mine from them. The plants are more expensive, but significantly larger than the starter size you will get from most nurseries. If you buy a dozen, the price per plant drops a bit from the single plant price. LOL, though, I don't know why you have the impression that blueberries are difficult. You must make sure your soil is sufficiently acid, other than that, they are among the easiest of any fruit crop to grow and one of the most reliable.
