If you have grown any of these or seen them growing please let me know what kind of sun/shade/semi-shade that these prefer. I am in Texas and most things like to have a little more shade than usual here, but not ALL plants respond to more shade. How tall do they usually get? Are there any of them that can't survive the heat of Texas or zone 8 winters?

Thanks for anything you can tell me, these Magnolias (michelias) are new to me. I love all of the Michelias that I have ever grown so far, but these are hard to find information on.
