Spacing for Seedlings

Hi, I have successfully germinated some seeds in water, and I need to transplant them to soil mix VERY soon.

My question is how far should I space the seedlings? From the search I found Hans-Werners' suggestion of growing amaryllis from seed (in reply to someone's question). He said just to put the seed side by side one after another, but at the end he said ask again in 4 months.

I don't know if that means after 4 months we need to transplant it to the ground; but since growing season is short here in Michigan, I will probably have about 6 months and then bring them indoor. I am thinking that if I give them a little more space, then I might not need to transplant again in the fall but can just bring them in for growing under light through the winter.

Any suggestion on the spacing?

Thanks in advance!
