Maltese Cross and red coreopsis

Blah. So not what I had envisioned based on all the pictures I've seen. It flops. Well, that's not true. In order to flop, it would have had to been erect at some point. This is another disappointment. I thought at first they were red spider zinnias that were blooming in tight groupings. I planted these with the zinnias hoping for a big red splash on that corner. Yeah, it's more like a drizzle.

BUT, one that I do like a lot is Red coreopsis. No idea what the variety is because the seeds came in a swap. That's all it was labeled. I should have cut these back a month ago to produce smaller plants. I don't care that they flop. I just want to collect oodles of seeds for next year.

The backside of the flowers are yellow. The plants are covered with buds that will be popping soon.
