Russ, Most all doubles are sterile. But it is quite common to find pollen along the edge of some of the petals, check all of your flowers, you may find some. And some doubles like Dancing Queen, and many others, do have filaments with pollen on misshapen filaments.I think it's called petaloid stamens when they are sort of fused to the side of the petals. Doubles are almost always female sterile. Your flower is very clean and beautiful, some people think the distorted reproductive parts make the flower look messy. Check all your flowers and you may luck out and find a dab of pollen that you can manually put on your red flower. Good Luck, and would your double be 'Promise'??
I'm sure others on this forum would be better at explaining it in more technical terms and correct my terminology which may or may not be correct, but you get the gist.

I am not sure what amaryllis I have as it was in a box that showed a double white. I was surprised to see this color. I checked the blooms all over hoping to find some pollen. Do I look for some yellowish color pollen? All was pure white and didn't see anything with a color. I have 3 more blooms yet to open so maybe there will be some pollen there.

Hi Russ, See the petals @ 12:00 and 8:00,the curved yellow on the edge of the petals, that is pollen. This Alfresco also has one dab of pollen in the center if you can see it. Hopefully one of your other flowers will have some. It may be white at first but as the pollen ripens it will turn yellow and may be easier to see!!

As you can see, the addition of pollen deforms the petals a bit and yours are perfectly formed. Keep looking!!

Wow Donna - that bloom is gorgeous. That is what was suppose to be in the box I got for christmas - A White amaryllis.
I will keep looking for the pollen and hope I get some. Thanks for all of the great information.

OK Russ,

Try this no guarantees because of possible ploidy or other differences.
remove petals on one side of the double bloom until you can see the top of the ovary. With a sharp blade cut open the tip of the ovary, but not quite into the seed chambers.
Place the pollen of your large red here. Good luck. This is the opposite of the technique Donna is recommending and probably has a lower success rate.

Thanks Bill for the response. It's too late now this year as the blooms have all gone. The red has huge seed pods now growing. I will print off your suggestion for another time tho...thank again. Russ
