Well, I should have known when monkey665 mentioned a while back that groundhogs love her Morning Glories that they would love mine too.
Had great success spring-sowing my Morning Glories in milk jugs, and they had oodles of nice healthy green leaves, and were twining charmingly all over my fence...until this morning when I realized that big Mr. Groundhog has fathered little Groundhog Jr.
Little Groundhog Jr. is small enough to slip between the bars of my new fence...sigh. He/she polished off four phlox, and almost all of leaves off the Morning Glories for breakfast.
Guess I need some chicken wire. Arrrg.
