I've got 4 new Musa saba, in temporary small pots (wanted to see if they survive before permanent planting):
{{gwi:407672}}
{{gwi:407673}}
They're all putting up thick leaves (supposedly wind resistant, sure feels like it), and two of them are already putting up a pup about 2 inches from the main stem.
Is this banana known as a prolific pupper? how big should a pup be before separating from the main plant?
IIRC, pups sap some energy from the growth of the main plant? If that's true and I wanted only the main plant now, I just dig out the pups?
At this stage, just let them feed on the potting mix as is, plus water, or could I add some 15-15-15 now?
Don't bananas require more K than N or P?
If I fert now, how much and how often for these 1-gal pots?
