Species that provide the most firewood per acre with coppicing?

Hello all! After making room for the orchard, nut trees and shrubs, fruiting shrubs, vegetable garden, wildlife plantings, and chicken coop/chicken run, I've decided to devote 0.3-0.4 acres of my property to producing firewood. This will be for burning in a smaller potbellied stove in our living room that we use to supplement our propane furnace in the coldest parts of winter.

I intend to coppice this planting to maximize wood production, so now the questions are: what species should I plant, and how should I space them? I was thinking possibly hybrid willow (very fast growth but less BTU's per cord) or black locust (slower growth rate but denser wood and higher BTU's).

1: Could I plant different species, alternating between them, or should I stick with a single species?

2: Since they will be cut back frequently, can I plant them closer together, say 5'-6' apart?

Thanks!
