You should fertilize after you have mowed real grass (not weeds) for the second time. Then you can be sure your roots are awake and taking up nutrients. Before that you would be wasting the fertilizer on the weeds.

Not much help but just wanted to throw out that our builder also uses Royal Crest, we chose the Driftwood color in the clapboard style over Dutch lap (really just a preference thing). We are just about done framing so siding hasn't gone up yet. I haven't chosen carpet yet so can't speak about the cost, but our allowance is $21 per square yard.

Hello, I'm getting ready to buy a used Whitfield Pellet Stove FP Insert and have a few questions. The pellet stove will be placed in my existing fireplace which was built in 1920. This old fireplace has the old style turn handle to open the flute, no topper, etc. The purchase I'm getting ready to make is just for the Stove and surround panel. What else do I need to properly vent it? I'm thinking I need a block off panel and some venitlation tubing to get it to the block off panel. Also does the vent tubing need to go all the way to the top of the chimney? Thanks in advance!

Luke, not sure you still have the worm farm, but I will respond for others out there. I had mine for nearly a year. Got my composting worms from a competent worm farmer and she answers my questions when something pops up. I freeze all my worm food before I serve it. It breaks down the cells and make it nice and mushy for them when it thaws out. The worms eat through it much faster. If the apple core is not starting to rot, the worm will wait for the decomposition to start. If you get different types of worms, read about them and their favourite habitat. Some worms are for fishing and will not survive in a bin. Outdoors worms don't feed on the surface and are not good for the bin either. I got 1/2 a pound of European night crawler. They are not big, but they are awesome. They make babies and eat a lot. They are small to medium in size. Very easy to care for because when I started I knew very little about vermicompost.
