What to do with eight 6-month old oak saplings

John Wallace

All, I germinated 8 oaks of varying kinds (water, red, shingle, laurel) back in April... they grew 6-12 inches with a few leaves each over the course of the summer as I kept them pretty shaded.

Now what should I do? I'm thinking I want to get them in the ground, but I'm worried that they will get eaten or killed by freeze.

Any advice here? Would love to get them out of their containers and in the ground, but don't want to lose them.

Thanks in advance.
