Flame Azalea seeds

We have some native fame azalea (Rhododendron calendulaceum ), and want to collect the seed to grow them, but having difficulty determining just where the seeds are. There are dried and opened seed pods (which may be from last year?), and other pods that are in various shades of green and some starting to brown. The brown ones that I have opened are dried out and have what looks like dried brown rotten paper in them, nothing that looks like seed. The greenish pods have light green "fruit" filling the pods. There were a few that have sprouting from the green pod, a 1 inch stalk with a 1 cm brown hard object on them, I assume this was from the flower and used to pollinate the pod that should have contained seed. Does anyone have a detailed picture of what a flame azalea seed pod should look like with note of where in the object the seeds are found? Will the green pods that have been removed from the plant turn to seed if left to dry out?
