Question from a recent visitor to Phoenix

from North Carolina !

We were in Phoenix last week for a conference at the Marriot Desert Ridge (off Tatum, Wildfire Golf Club)

I saw so many shrubs and trees on that property (in landscaped/watered areas) I wished would grow out here in zone 8.

One tree in particular has seed pods on it now (I snuck a couple to take home) and I hope with good description you can help me identify.

Tree was about 15' tall with acacia like leaves. Didn't note any thorns.

The seed pods are about 3" long about as long as an overdeveloped peapod, curved, and pale creamy yellow on one side with lots of rosy blush on one side (facing sun?). The pod surface is fuzzy like peach fuzz.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Glad you got some rain finally and glad it rained before our trip because the weather last week was spectacular.
