Maria; like people some flowers are photogenic while other much more charming do not come up so well. I love soft colours and soft fadeing/murger of colours,rather than harsh sharp contrasts/lines.

Thank you ARIF...yes it is simply lovely. I could just stare at the flowers and admire the soft green eyes/center, merging (as you have said) with the pink petals with raspberry markings, spots and picotee. It has a very mild scent too to compliment its beauty.

Maria-that is lucious! I love it's delicate freckles/speckles that trail away from the more intense color, and it is a very lovely shape, doncha think?

Yes, an almost perfect flower for me. I spend quite some time in deciding on which pollen to use on its flowers. It is HARD when it's got almost everything in it.

Hey Maria! =) Not to hijack your threads but I'm trying to limit multiple posts with pictures of the same variety. Much of your photography contributed to quite a few varieties I added to my collection this season and hopefully new members will be able to see all these different varieties and add them to their collection as I and many others have done. =) Here's my San Remo on her second scape and as Maria said earlier, San Remo does have a pleasant light scent that is sweet-nice.

I have to agree with Lizalily... what a beauty! It looks good enough to eat! Now I know I really have to add it to my "must haves"!

My San Remo is sporting another large bud. I hope to share him again with all of you. This has been an exceptional bloomer for me this year.

San Remo is on its third scape this season and I hope that this will be its last scape as it is shriveling in bulb size. Most definitely a giver just like my Candy Floss and a must have for anyone who loves freckles. The flowers almost remind me of a oriental lily. Light fragrance that is pleasant and refreshing to the nose. Enjoy! =)

Pax, YUMMY! Beautiful photos. Doesn't this one just make you go "Ahhh" there is something so welcoming and pleasing about it's shape and delicate freckles. I have more seed pods on mine and another scape forming for one last Hurrah. You are right-it is much like Candy floss with it generous blooms. I was fortunate to get them and plant at the same time in the same container so it has been a non stop show.

I agree 100% with you Cindee, something about San Remo is just so refreshing and very easy on the eyes with it's delicate shape and subtle freckles. =) I have four seed pods on mine but I'm not taking this season too seriously (in terms of seed production) so I've been pollinating with just about anything and everything. I have been collecting and saving pollen in a organized manner though. =) I've been enjoying your show of flowers this season, cheers to many more happy tales and bountiful blooms. =)

oooooh....thanks so much for sharing folks! I absolutely must have this one...it has the delicate, soft coloring i like..as was said already. a further plus is that the color is distributed along the central midrib...not alongside it like most other bicolors.

please...any suggestions where i can get this one next year?

This one does look like one of my favorite Oriental Lilies, Muscadet! And I just love the sweet little freckles on its face!

I think next year I might just as well get every ami bulbs that Scheepers has that I do not have yet...Because sooner or later I will see it on here and want it!

I'm thinking the same thing, Lizalily... I'm going to go through the catalogs next fall and get the ones I don't have yet! Within reason, of course... I can't have them all... but I CAN start with one website catalog, and work it until I run out of money! LOL!

You folks are just leading me astray. There's no saving me from myself. I'm just so obsessed and can't resist -- have no willpower at all. I just ordered San Remo from RC. I love the soft pink (will match my bedroom!). I'm better off when that lawn outside needs mowing - no time to sit at the computer and drool after 6 or 7 hours mowing (and sitting) not to mention the 20 gardens that need weeding and tending. Actually, I was after Supreme Garden, when San Remo, well, just sort of fell into my basket. Then, of course, I had to purchase it. I promise -- that's it for this year. Hmmmmmm, think I said that before :-) BTW, Muscadet is my very most favorite Oriental lily.

Yeah, I keep saying that, too, Kitty! That's it for the season! And then another offer to join an order, or another variety I don't have will be waved under my nose, and I can't resist! Today, I'm potting up the 4 beauties I just received, plus a little surprise bulb that was in the package! I think I will have flowers until winter finally breaks into spring!

I also have a pot of hyacinths that just came out of the "dorm"ancy fridge! They are about an inch or so above the soil, so I should have those in bloom soon, too!

I'm so swamped with bulbs and seeds that I hardly know where to keep it all! And you know I'll be getting more bulbs with the summer Aussie order! I need more windows and more lights to keep my habit going!

Ooh... Oriental Lilies! Love 'em! I planted several in the new bulb garden I dug last fall... I can't remember the varieties I put in, but a few were red, some were sort of creamy white with speckles... I know there were more... I also planted tulips, daffodils, muscari, crocus, naked ladies, allium, a few perennials, and other bulbs that I can't remember... it should be quite a show!

After looking at your beautiful San Remo, I'm convinced that Hippeastrum have evolved to spread via bulb addiction. :) So incredibly pretty!

Now I can see my birthday wish list this year will begin with "All the below are Hippeastrum flowers and x, y, and z are good places to order their bulbs online *wink wink*" followed by a list of every variety I can find reference to, and this pretty will be up near the top :)

Here's my San Remo, today. Talk about a giver! It is on it's 3rd scape! I have harvested the seed pods from the 1st scape. The 2nd scape is full of ripening pods and the 3rd scape is growing tall and soon to open. I would recommend this bulb to everyone!

It's near the top of the burgeoning "must have" portion of my constantly growing "wish list"! My dream would be to have enough space and enough light to have one of every hippeastrum variety, and more than one of the varieties I really like! Of course, it's only a dream... as it is, I am finding that I need to be a bit more picky in the varieties I choose as I'm running out of space to keep all of my bulbs happy! If they were all miniatures, I'd have plenty of room... but many of the hybrids are so big, and the leaves grow so tall and long, that I am having trouble finding appropriate places to keep them all!

San Remo will be one I collect, though... Cindee has had such a wonderful time with hers, and it's so beautiful, that I just must have it! Plus, it appears to be extremely fertile, and that's a consideration.

I almost wish some of these were ugly... it would make keeping the collection to a manageable size a lot easier! I'm at over 45 bulbs, and counting! We still have the summer Aussie order coming up, and that will net about 6 more bulbs... and I have 1 bulb on order right now... and I just got 5 bulbs recently... it's becoming more of an obsession than an addiction, or is it an obsessive addiction? I don't know... I just know I'm in deep, and I must gain some control at some point so I don't end up with so many plants that I can't care for them all properly!

I am going to start a new thread. Although I find NONE ugly, that WOULD make the addiction easier, I do have some that didn't impress me as much as others. Might be interesting to see what people were not impressed with.

San Remo came back this year looking more beautiful than the last.....^^

It's wonderful, Pax! It's still on my wish list, and I hope to have a larger bulb budget next season! I did acquire the Evergreen bulb that sat at the top of that list, and now I must make my way down the list, one bulb at a time! San Remo keeps tempting me... it's really a lovely color combination!

Nice "San Remo Comeback" Pax!!! My San Remos also came back with good performance. And besides the pretty flower, I would give SR a credit for being a nice and vigorous plant too. I had noooo problems with my SRs. They grew to be huge, nice and healthy plants. I would highly recomend SR to everybody.

A recommendation from Maria clinches it... San Remo moves several notches up the ladder of varieties I wish for! Vigor and health are among the desirable characteristics for bulbs, especially when they're being used as breeding specimens. Performance is another nice characteristic, as is lack of trouble. It's getting easier to choose which collection additions to look for... and having Maria sing the praises of certain varieties really helps!

Jodi...SR so far is the ONLY variety that has this unique raspberry dots and light raspberry picotee. It is actually very unique and different. I think I saw some likeness to it in one of the Aussie varieties though.

I think I did, too, Maria... I'm just not sure which Aussie variety it was. I believe there may even be two Aussie varieties... one in pink, and one in a peachy orange shade. I could be mistaken, but I thought I saw a couple of different bulbs resembling San Remo, to a certain extent. They may actually resemble Charisma more... I'm not sure without peeking at McGuire's listings!

Cindee has also sung the praises of San Remo, and so it's the next one on my must have wish list!
