I wouldn't be surprised if the claim (properly restated) was correct (and it probably is). In the previously mentioned thread, we were talking about varying conditions. When "wider natural range" was brought up in the context of conditions, I naturally assumed we were talking range of conditions. After Dan brought up the ambiguous nature of the statement, it makes more sense and seems much more likely to be accurate. Now we've just got to figure out the peanut butter claim.

Well some of my "fur" fell off. And as I was playing with the thing (I like to pet the things LOL) I noticed some black things in there. If you take a cutting in early spring (about this thickness of a pencil or so)), plant directly in the soil, with about 2-4 buds above the soil line and 8-10" below it will root within a couple of weeks. If it must be done when the parent tree isn't dormant, you really need a mist bench for best success. Rooting in water isn't a great idea because then you must get it established in soil. Just start with moist soil. I've rooted thousands of cuttings and willows are among the easiest if done right. Also, it should be mentioned that not all willows root with the same ease. Pussy willows for example, are not as easy (though still easy compared to say, an oak).

The question still remains.. how close is too close to be near a well? ===>>> no.. the question remains.. whether your well is lined ... are you simply going to ignore the obvious??? a kitchen analogy.. you want to know how powerful your new oven/stove will be.. by asking about the toaster.. focus.. find out about your well ... if there is 100 feet of hermetically sealed pipe.. down to the water level.. the tree is irrelevant .. your county water board .... should have all your well info available ... i happened to ask my engineer neighbor about your question ... he laughed.. and said.. that here in MI.. all wells are lined.. to below the water table.. which in our case is 58 feet down.. the third aquifer down .. the tree is irrelevant.. period ... now i have done more research on your topic than you.. hop to woman.. lol .. and you MAY NOT TAKE THIS INFO TO THE BANK.. do your own local research ... ABOUT THE WELL and what gall said too .. i had a willow at the old house.. 10 feet diameter [not a typo] ...
