chocolate flowers

Hi All, Has anyone ever planted the shocolate flowers? There is suppose to be a chocolate delphinium and some daisy from Mexico? Anyone ever wsoed these? My pots are coming to an end. I am thinking did I give too many away?

Where did they all go! The bad thing is that I am currently thinking about spring and summer sowing now. My husband will have kittens if I put another 247 pots out there! Have a good day. Sybil

Yep, I ws'd chocolate flower this year (also called chocolate daisy). It's a southwestern native that's supposed to be drought tolerant. My babies did VERY well and are thriving in the flower bed now; I planted them out about 3 weeks ago. I'm hoping I get some blooms this year so I can smell them!

Jennifer, I just emailed you regarding the cannas. I would love to trade for some of these seeds. I have various yard long bean seeds including the red noodle (trade, my own, commercial). AA, I'll bring Obedient plant I rec'd in March because it is likely a shade of pink or purple from what I've read. Been told it will be behave if it's contained in pot, dry soil, clay soil, but if it has moist good soil it will spread crowding out others. Corrine

I have it. It does well in my zone, too. Overwinters and reseeds itself. To me the fragrance is reminiscent of cocoa, but not quite the same.

I had some in my backyard in Phoenix (just moved to Tucson, though). They tended to flop over a lot, but this didn't prevent them from blooming like crazy. I noticed that they bloom a lot in the morning, then the flowers close up during the main heat of the afternoon. Trimming them a lot won't hurt them...they'll just grow back. So chop away.
