Northerner my favorite flower is a daisy or any type of daisy. Shasta daisy use to be a flower that I really researched out, did you know there is 150 different types of shasta daisy that luther burbank created?? I know that is totally irrelevant but I just had to throw that out there cause most do not realize there is that many different varieties of the plant. Anywho after falling in love with the shasta daisy white knight many years ago and purchasing seed and actually getting germination I was sadly disappointed the second year. Ended up that it was nothing like the white knight I had read about and it looked more like the alaska version. Well after more reading I found a website that actually listed the white knight as an f1 hybrid. Now I do not remember what website I read that on and I do not know if it is true, but it could explain why you had low germination and why I had an alaska look alike. How I actually started my seeds were actually direct sown. I direct sowed them in my unamended clay soil in full sun. I had pretty good germination, I did not do a cold treatment prior. Northener I have currently of the shasta daisy collection, silver princess, alaska, becky, and snow lady. My favorite of the ones I have grown is the becky. She does not flop, she has a long bloom period and she is evergreen here. I plant her anywhere in my yard regardless of shade or full sun and I get great results. The blooms are about 3" in diameter, and they make a great cut flower. I have never had a problem with disease or pest and I am the type of person that hates to drag out a hose so I rarely water so she is also drought resistant. Currently I have a clump that I can dig up that is not budded yet that I would be more than happy to send to you for postage. That is if you are interested. Just email me and we can discuss that further if you want. Oh and after I found that out about the white knight either last year or the year before, I tended to lose interest in the shasta daisy. I just decided I have good faithful becky and I am happy. Now if someone offered me a clump of broadway lights or sunny side up I would probably be on that like gum on the bottom of a shoe, lol. Yes that is concrete reinforcing wire we made the cages a decade ago. The rust doesn't bother them and I rather like the rustic look. We just used the width of the wire and cut out the cross pieces on one end so they poke down in the ground a few inches. They definitely need the post driven in to support the whole thing, We did spray them with. a 10% bleach solution to minimize disease transfer. It is a combination of supports some are old cattle panel type posts and others are roof bolts from the old coal mine. The scarecrow is totally for scenery but I find it does a good job scaring people. They go out to tour the garden and turn around and jump when the scarecrow is there LOL.

I have a 36 inch, 6 burner range and love the 6 burners, but I really like you idea of adding the hot plate to the four burners. You can add induction too. You could have 7 or 8 burners if you needed them. One thing about the 6 burners is you have to clean all 6 all the time. Before I had 2 ovens, I had a small separate oven that I used outside in the summer to keep from heating up the kitchen. Auxiliary appliances can be a very good way to make the most out of your kitchen. There are lots of configurations of ranges with some subtle differences you may not even notice until you cook with them. It seems with my Wolf range the burners set a little bit farther back then they did with the Dacor range that I had. The spread between the burners also varies and there are some 48inch ranges that only have 6 burners with 15 inch platforms. The 36 inch range only has 6 more inches to accommodate the 2 extra burners, so in most cases this means strictly the 11 inch platforms. If I was buying 30 inch, I would try to find a range that has the biggest platforms(up to 15 inch)or at least spreads the burners out to accommodate the bigger pans.

Hi senior gal, What a great change you and the class helped Tommy to achieve - thanks for being not only so perceptive, but so persistent as to get it started. I'm so glad that you were able to meet his sister, by happenstance, so many years later. I think, though, that this is not the end of the story. Unless there may be a reason not to pursue it ... how about looking Tommy up? Or, if travel isn't convenient, would his sister be willing to instigate his coming to see you? I'll bet that he'd agree to such a proposition and probably not take more than an instant to agree to do so. ole joyful
