I can't think of what to use but could make a platform with holes fitted down in on that "shelf", be a little tricky to get it to fit just right. I'd prefer something I could cut with my hot knife, worst case scenario a coping saw, but can't think of what. Plexiglass is not opaque and probably hard to cut. Masonite shower lining warps w/moisture and is hard to cut. I probably could make a pattern with cardboard. Whatever it is, I could get the hardware store to do it for me but with all those curves, they might charge a lot. But with the raised lid and having the platform set down it, it should give pretty good headroom. I couldn't use as much water as you; maybe it wouldn't matter so long as I'd keep the level up. Any ideas, some kind of rigid, opaque plastic readily available, preferably not online?

Usually if a perennial is truly hardy in your zone it doesnÂt matter how old they are when winter comes. Two different years IÂve dug up Echinacea to give away but the person never got there to pick them up. The plants sit in a blue grocery bag (with or without dirt completely covering their roots) on top of the ground all through winter, patiently waiting to be planted in the spring. IÂve had pots with babies sitting on a bench 1.5 feet off the ground all winter that survived with no problem. The only thing I find iffy in my yard are the mums. Several years they all come back and then one spring most are wiped out. But Echinacea, no problems!

Firstly let me say - those of us with a low body temperature who have always had this - it is nothing to worry about ath0ugh it does have its problems. Anyone who has only recently become 'cold' there may be another reason for it so do get it checked out. My daughter is in her final year of a nursing degree and was talking to one of the docs about this. It is unusual but not unheard of - I think most people who are colder than usual are not aware of it, nurses very rarely put down if you have a low temperature as they fear it would make them appear sloppy by not checking properly. The real difference for most people is our 'immunity' to bugs - bugs are very temperature reliant and they do not like our cold bodies. However when we come across a bug that is less susceptible to temp changes we effectively go down 'like a ton of bricks' and take longer to recover. We don't feel the cold quite as much but we feel the effects - so even if we don't feel cold we can get problems like Reynards where the fingers and toes go white and numb. Unpleasant but as long as you are aware of it and don't get too cold for too long it can be controlled. I also find heat to be a problem - I am not really sure why but I will try to find out more.
