WSing gaillardia- Bakemom has the secret!

There was an old post in which so many of us complained about poor germination with gaillardia. That was in January, and I'll post a link. At that time I had just sown a jug of burgundy gaillardia.

Those seeds I sowed in Jan haven't sprouted. They were without the seed carrier, and were from last year. I recently purchaced fresh seed, easy to distinguish from the old because they were in the carrier. I stuck some of them into that same prepared jug just a few days ago, and today one of them sprouted already! It is from the new seeds because I can see the shuttlecock carrier.

In that old thread, bakemom suggested spring sowing them. I'm thinking that that might just be the magic ingredient. Maybe they are a seed that rots with prolonged wet conditions. I'll let you know if more sprout.
