I have a Party going on :D and it's a blast! I just love it!!

- 'Diva', also from RC this season is growing two more scapes... I hope to get some pictures of her too, she is beautiful deep pinkish red, fuchsia?. I haven't been into doubles (well Jewel and Alfresco are fantastic of course) but Diva, Diva is really nice...

It was rapidly out of stock and I couldn't order one , so I hope they will offer it again nex autumn , thank you for sharing.

Too funny you should ask - we are at about 20 degrees BELOW normal today. I am wearing the wool sweater that I wear once a year and have a wool blanket on my lap that I use once a year. Today did not get above the 46 - highly unusual - and tonight's low is forecast for 22. That temp is for the airport where the "official" temps are recorded - the low at my house will probably be somewhere around 30-32. So, ok, on to "normals". The average highs vary from mid-60s in winter to mid-90s in summer. The average lows vary from mid-40s to mid-70s. Jacksonville is located in the northeast corner of the state on the eastern coastline, just south of the Florida-Georgia border. We have very high humidity year-round but a nice seabreeze. My home is located exactly five miles from the ocean. My bulbs do not stay evergreen. We get 0-10 nights where freezing temps are reached per year and also several frosts. The first freeze or frost knocks off the leaves. But some years, we get no freezes. The past two years, we had about 10 freezes which we considered to be "harsh" winters for Jacksonville. (I know a lot of you roll your eyes at that and I get it!) Like I said, some winters, we get no hard freezes at all. I was hoping for that this year after the past two rough winters and this year, a mild December, but it was not to be. Like I said, I am wrapped in wool today. It will be put away by Friday as the weekend forecast is for highs in the 70s again. All my bulbs stay in the ground year round and in ten years, I have only lost one bulb ever. Yeah.... ever. That bulb was clearly gone and completely rotten but I could not determine why. I had nine others of the same variety and they were all fine. I have never lost any others - not even to squirrels or critters, even though I have read other posters who say that they will eat bulbs - and the majority of my bulbs come from seeds from my crosses. So they are almost 100% pink (except for the segregated area where I keep my "give-aways") and almost all unnamed. I'm still unnerved that "Neon" is sterile. So I finally pony up $14 for a single new bulb and the darn thing is useless for my purposes. It will take awhile for me to get over that one! LOL! Carol

Hello Donna and Jojo and thanks for your comments! You're right Donna, it's worth trying, and I will. Balentino has two flowers and I dabbed JS's pollen on the older one, stigma being still ok and the overall look of the flower too. JS will receive pollen from the younger flower, they should be ready for the exchange soon. Jojo, I will definitely self pollinate JS and I'd be delighted to trade seeds with you if the cross takes and I get seeds. JS has a second flower scape coming so I can try now and still get another chance later. I'm hoping 'Apricot Parfait' would be blossoming then, but I doubt it. It seems to take it's sweet time developing the scape, and JS is fast. Got some seeds from 'Bogota' with various reds as the other parent, but it wasn't exactly a super mom - nor dad. Although the seedpods looked ok, there were quite a lot of not so good of seeds inside. But yes, I did get some seeds and they developed into healthy seedlings. - This is by no means to discourage you Donna, no, just sharing my pathetic little experiences. The prospects of your cross are terrific!

SOOOOOOOOOOO, I accidently ordered these three plus the three others I ordered earlier! H. Cybister 'Jungle Star', H. Cybister 'NR0016', Salmon Trumpet So, Donna convinced me to order "NR0016" and I figured I might as well order "Jungle Star" too, the bloom is absolutely huge for a Cybsiter and I thought WHAT THE HECK?!?!?! Why not go ahead and get the salmon trumpet as trumpets are my favorite and the color might work well in some breeding attempts!

Thanks so much, I am pretty happy with the size and seems pretty healthy. phal pal, I'm sure you will like your plants from them, so far both of the plants I ordered from them was very healthy and good size. I've heard from most people that have ordered from them are happy with it. Post pics when you get them... Shiver, when I ordered mine two weeks ago I think she only had a couple left. I had her put my name on her email list when she got this Hoya. As soon as I got the email I called her and ordered it. I'm sure she is out by now. Maybe you can email her to put your name on the "want" list. Linda, I'm sure once yours start growing it will be have the different colors too. Good luck with yours also. Party blossoming has been one of the highlights in my hippi growing era. I totally recommend getting one - or more - whenever possible. And this is not CHAD speakin, although I admit I am contaminated, all of the symptoms fit like a glove. But I'm past the state of denial as you can see, isn't that something...

Party has two scapes and it's the second one in the photos. There are six flowers in the umbel so it's pretty impressive. And the scapes are tall.

I'm totally blown away by the colors. This second scape seems to have even more intense colors than the first... I've been very pleased with the winter fertilizer I've been using now, could it have something to do with the saturated colors?

Does any of you have 'Pajama Party', is my Party the same variety or a different one, what do you all think?

I've been busy pollinating and crossing it, so far it has gotten pollen from Alfresco, Diva and Rosado. Unfortunately I have only Rosado at the moment to give it's pollen to, I have to try to store some of the pollen for future use.

Yes, I do like the colors very much, and I also like the shape of the flower, it is a proper trumpet form; not so much a trumpet as I would imagine 'Amputo' or 'Germa' to be (and they are of different type otherwise too).

I have had Gervase. It was wonderful. Unfortunately it got rot near the basal plate and I decided to get rid of it. I'm very unexperienced in treating bulbs with pesticides and don't dare to take any risks. - I have no idea of the cause of the rot but these things just happen sometimes and to the ones we really like, unfortunately.

I have Party seedlings growing, the pollen parent was Alfresco. So, if you are interested in crossing her just give it a go.

Hi Beatrice,

Just gorgeous, is her face as pretty as she is walking away? I got mine this year from White Flower Farms labeled as Pajama Party and she hasn't bloomed yet, actually she isn't even thinking about it!! I hope I got the right bulb!!

My Party from RC sat for months doing nothing. Come July it finally woke up and bloomed.

Yes Leena , colour is uncredible , and I love the simple trumpet shape of the flowers .
What could I try on her ... i don't know , the colour is so special .
Alfresco was a good idea.

Donna , the face is also pretty , but my pictures seemed so insipid compared to Leena's that I didn't add some !
I will be very interested seeing your Pyjama Party , they seem to be the same.
