First of all I have no idea what this one is but it must have been planted last year.

Oooh! I want to play. I have baby hostas coming back too. I hope to see some colors this year besides green.

Butterfly bushes. I've been pinching them hard. They're over the 2' mark already.

Artemesia. I thought this was going to be an upright variety. Oh well. Makes a nice groundcover.

Dame's Rocket. It's blooming already. White. I was hoping for pink, although I have read that white is more uncommon.

I also have one of those plants like your first one. I know it's something. I mean, I remember it last year, but this year, it's really taken off. I vaguely remember small blooms last year. If it's the same plant, they were reddish pink.

Token~Your UI plant is Centrantus ruber/Red Valerian. I'm not sure what floodthelast's is.

I have a similar problem with my zucchini and cucumbers. My zucchini have gotten white spots on the leaves and some of them had died. I kept getting the fruit and as a new gardener, I didn't worry about it. After a week or two I noticed that most of the branches were dying and when I lifted some, the stem broke just above the ground. It was rotted through. All three of my plants have died and I removed them all from the garden. We have had a wet summer and I may have over watered them, though my soil drains pretty well. Next, my neighbor's cucumbers (which are separated from my garden by a link fence) have all withered and died. I am now noticing spots on my cucumber leaves, some have even become holes, and the vines are beginning to wither. Is there anything I can do to prevent further damage or what can I do to prevent this problem next year? Should I spray milk on them?

Beautiful! I wouldn't be worried about the last one, although I don't personally know it. It's still alive, there is new growth. Could be that it's just a slow grower, there are a lot ot those. chris

Thanks Jaynine. I remember planting it last year and being told it reseeds heavily. No babies this year, but I did only see one or two clusters of blooms.

Your babies look great too token. It's so encouraging to see them coming back strong. I have several day lilies that are looking nice and other plants getting ready to bloom. It's fun to have a whole other side of winter sowing to enjoy. I did worry so about my perennials out there under all the snow I had.

I know what you mean. I spent weeks looking at dead, barren soil. We don't get much snow cover so the plants had to survive the cold with just leaves over them. But almost everything made it.

It's so exciting to see last year's little babies grow up and bloom the 2nd year! Yippeee!

Floodthelast, not sure what your 4th pic is, but it's definitely not Trumpet vine (Campsis radicans). Leaves are different.

I am so pleased they sprouted for you.
You are way ahead of me.
I have most of my containerrs that have sprouted,but they are very small still.

It is nice to see sprouts! I keep walking around looking at mine. the Bleeding hearts will be in full bloom soon. they get big real fast.

I also see green on a clematis. I was afraid to cut the vines because I was not sure what variety it was. I am glad I did not cut them cause there is green on the brown stems now. That should be a pretty flower this year!

Hmm is it possible the fourth one is honeysuckle instead?
These are all second year babies my sprouts are still quite small. There are a lot of them though.

Yep. It's a honeysuckle. The opposite leaves give it away.

Works for me then, I wish I had taken more pics today. I also have astilbe's, hardy geraniums, chives, lunaria and a few other mystery plants coming back from last years seedlings.

I am just so excited by the "last years tiny seedling perennials" tranformed over winter to this spring's healthy young perennials! Many of these got planted out early last year and then got sort of "lost in the sause" of the many annuals in full bloom. But they clearly were growing!

The biggest happy dance? HOS Lady's Mantle coming up in many spots. I plopped down in the bed yesterday and dug up the group and split it up along a walkway. Had 9 "teenagers" that look like they will be beautiful full grown adults this season. Great leaves and love the flowers as fillers (like baby's breath) with roses.

Your shasta is a shasta. Expect it to multiply a lot before blooming. The last one is echinacea. The tiny one looks like bee balm, but I could be wrong. No idea about the huskers. I'm growing it from seed for the first time, but the leaves are purple.
