Emperor One Red Japanese Maple...can I move this?

This was planted early last year. This year, it has lost all it's leaves, curled and dried up since they are in full direct sun...I was told by the nursery this is normal behavior in full sun, the tree is not dying, but it takes a few years to get acclimated to full sun and once established it should bounce back, or so to speak. Yes, the tree gets enough water.

With that said, I'm considering moving it to another location in a partly shady area of the yard. It's maybe 6 feet tall, still small enough to move, but wondering how complex the root system may be at this point. Is this a total loss? We got this tree at an excellent price, so I hate to lose it, it's a beautiful specimen.
