Harvesting Onions - Cool Nights & High RH Ok?

thirsty_dirt_77

The past few days have been extremely windy and as a result, about 75% of my onions have fallen over.

With a few warmer days in the forecast the plan was to pull them tomorrow and leave them to dry in the garden for a few days before moving then to a more sheltered area.

The forecast is saying highs of 25C / 77F (~ 40% RH) and an overnight low of 8C / 46F with RH of probably 70 - 80%.

My husband thinks that we shouldn't leave them in the garden over night because of the humidity but I think one night can't hurt at the beginning of the drying process - especially since once they are moved to a more sheltered area they'll still be outside with the cooler temperatures and high-ish humidity.

I would like to sun dry them for a few days before moving them and don't have the time (or desire) in the morning to be moving all of them.

Any thoughts?
