It's especially neat to see sprouts after a long winter where everything is so dull and lifeless looking. It's my first year of WSing but it's been a great experience and lots of sprouts that I have to find space for.

Judging from the container count, it would seem like there are a lot of newbies (and oldies) in zone 5! They are kicking butt!

Wsing never gets old - after 7 years, I'm still thrilled to see sprouts.

Actually, I am kind of sad to see winter go since I won't be able to sow as many seeds and anticipate the sprouts. I never thought I would ever feel sad to see winter go. (what happened to me?)

Winter sowing happened to you! hehehehe .....

(you can do spring sowing and summer sowing too - the anticipation is just as good!)

Warm weather sowing is particularly great for zinnias - If you sow them in spans of like three weeks, you will have fresh new plants all the way until frost - (Trudi taught me that)

I'm a newbie... I have so enjoyed doing this!!! I just can't believe how simple and basic it is. I really didn't believe it at first, but I'm a die harder from here on out. It has given me the courage to try new plants that I wouldn't have before, simply because the expense to purchase them would have broken my wallet, but what an experience!!!
I have to wait longer to remove my lids than you all, but I can't get over how many seedlings are in there, every day I go out to check on them, it's so fun. We got some rain yesterday, so I was just tickled for that as well. I did sow some zinnias, but now I'm wondering if I should have waited a little longer since it can still get chilly here. Any thoughts?
Thank you for all of your help. I've told so many people about this, and they're just as tickled as I was.
I'm also thrilled to get a compost bin for my gardens, isn't that funny, the simple things that make you smile.

Not sure if we have more, but I do know they are a great enthusiastic bunch! Love to come every day and sense the excitement which you brought to us just a couple (?) of years ago. I remember that well. :O)

I'm a newbie and am amazed with the sprouts I'm getting. Half of my 70 containers have sprouts. The weather has been great here this week and I've been busy expanding my flower beds using Don's instant bed method. First thing everyday I log on to see new postings and I've learned so many new things from everyone. I've enjoyed participating and want to thank Trudi and everyone for sharing their knowledge.

I think you are right, tiff - this year's newbies are very excited (as all others have been) and this forum has been "jumping"! I love it!

I am a newbie to ws and this forum and am enjoying myself so much. thank you all.
I have just under 100 jugs! WOW !!! I love the idea of all these plants for so little money. Many new perennials (some I've never seen) & annuals I have never tried even a few vines!!
I built a new "holding bed" to keep some in sort of like going shopping in my own yard. lol
I check this site constantly will look up at the clock and see hours have gone by!

I am a newbie this year,sure has been fun, i have over 150 containers,and they all have sprouts,well, there may be one or two i am still waiting for.

I still have zinnias i want to sow,i may just direct sow them, not sure yet.

My neighbor came over today and was a mazed at all my containers,she has always done her seeds in a greenhouse, she has changed her mind, said she will winter sow next year, anothr to be newbie.ha ha

My daughter is getting atarted also.

I can not thank all of you enough,you have answered my endless questions with joy,i hope to get pictures to post as soon as every thing is in bloom.
