I would think that Jubilee Celebration would love 75-89 degree year around weather. One complaint some posters have of Austins is that they fade and blow quickly in hot weather--like the 95 or 100+ summers my roses have to endure. So those posters are often told to plant their Austins in afternoon partial shade. In your case, I would give the opposite advice--plant it where it will get 6-10 hours of sun.

JC has the prettiest salmon pink blooms with a touch of yellow, but they do "nod," so be prepared for that (I think it is rather charming, myself). You are going to love this rose.

My JC is in a large container-the better to enjoy those noddy flowers-in full sun and sometimes 40 mph salty trades. So far, so good. No disease, nice fragrance, flowers get to about 5" across, last a few days in summer and about a week now, do OK in a vase. I did have some yellowing leaves but that went away when I raised the bottom of the container up off of the ground so probably drainage. The colors are deeper now that it's winter ;)

I would definitely check that page.

We are in an exceptionally mild coastal area of Southern California.
Where your climate is humid, ours is Arid, but the lack of winter chill is probably on a par.
(It is possible here, in most years, to grow ripe bananas.)
It's been our experience that in our "no-winter-chill" zone many Austin roses are poor bloomers.

YES! I live in the Arizona desert and you can't get any more extreme temps then what we have 120F in Jul & Aug and it can get down to 25F in Jan & Feb. I have Graham Thomas, Heritage, Glamis Castle and they do just fine, as said above they do blow quite fast in the hot summers, but it has to be pretty hot. In your temps I think they will last a little longer. I think a DA would love the temps you posted.

Al, I agree that you should try the rose...I have two Austins and am pleased with them...One question though; what part of Hawaii are you growing in? The higher the elevation, the better--I think. I'm in low elevation and humidity coupled with heat may be a different factor than in higher elevations (boy do those flowers shatter fast!)

Thanks to all. I live in central Oahu, Mililani mauka. A little more rainfall than Honolulu, usually blown from the mountains. We are at about 850', a little cooler than Honolulu and with the trades, very little humidity. I will look forward to these beauties.

Al, It's great to have someone on that is on Oahu. Maybe one day, if there are enough of us, we too can get together and have a cuttings trade...Anyway, not to be too pushy but I hope that you have or will consider growing antique roses. The experiences that I have had with them have been positive. For instance, I have two cecile brunner and they require very little spraying (once a month to every few months)--and mostly for spidermites and thrips; even though they would be fine even without the spray. They are hardy, grow well, and bloom readily.

I don't have a clue if Austins will do well there for you but I sure know I would do just great there!

I used ground and chunks coconut shells to mixing with soil and also put chunks coconut shells cover on top. So then keep watering until coconut shells good moist.

I live in Thailand and I was wondering where did you find the David Austin Roses? I cannot find a company that will ship them out to Thailand. I would love to add them to my rose collection!

Ditto Seil! I can use some nice hot weather now. Winter has been the mildest here for years but I would love to be able to go out into the garden than worry about the next snowstorm.

I live in a tropical climate as well and I think it would do well for you. Mine is on fortuniana root stock and so far has done well. Its a relatively new plant only one year in the garden, but no problems this far. So far I have had luck with Jubilee Celebration, Huntington Rose, Pat Austin (this one is particularly happy), Abraham Darby, The Shepherdess and Evelyn. Carding Mill seems to be another one that likes my warm climate as well. I'm in zone 10b and actually have warmer summers that reach about 98 degrees and although they do suffer a bit by the end of the summer, come October they bounce right back.
