Anyone know if they are open right now? I've had difficulty w/ their website and haven't been able to make email communication either.

They are open - I ordered from them not too long ago and last Friday they emailed me with an update on my order. I was also on their website Wednesday just to see if they had added anything.

Erasmus, if your rose is a small own-root I suppose it might not look totally true with the first few blooms. I know some of my little own-roots I got from Cliff a few yrs ago did not bloom true til the plants got bigger. But your bloom doesn't have the ruffled form, and the pointy tips on the petal edges are not typical of BB. Hopefully in the subsequent bloomings if it is BB, it will start looking more like it. I guess it'll just be a waiting game.

Pulease...you guys. I am laughing so hard. I can think of so many forum members who make much better bouquets than I ever could. The thing about RR and Ascot is you just need a lot of blooms to stuff in a vase--the blooms do it all for you--plonks for the lazy. I just looked up Jude a while ago to see his parentage, if possible. No, it can't be...Abe Darby is a parent. My little runt Abe which grows next to my 8+ft tall Jude. Something is wrong here. Diane

It really does look like the photos of Ginger Syllabub, which is funny because that's one that has been on my wish list. Maybe someone who grows Ginger will chime in, but I think that's a good guess. I was thinking it also looks like Barden's October Moon but I figured he would have identified it for you if that's what it is.

Kitty, I saw those threads a few months back and that second one especially is what made me seek out the amazingly beautiful Gloire de Ducher rose (IMO the pictures on RVR do not do it justice). I happened to go onto the RVR website because of this thread, and was thrilled when I saw it finally available again since it didn’t seem to be that easy to find. I also didn’t want to risk missing out on it and I feel like there’s always a chance some less common roses may even disappear from commerce. Vanguard is actually sold out now on the site so I am very glad I got it yesterday, it doesn’t sound like they had many available and it also hasn’t been easy to find. I actually have 8 roses coming now from RVR! Vanguard and Henri Fouquier were the replacement roses they are also sending me in addition to the six from my original order. Several of them are going into pots and Duchess de Montebello and Henri Fouquier are going into the ground (Montebello is going where the mistaken rose is currently planted). I’m not entirely sure where I am planting Gloire de Ducher but I had to have it 😊I have a spot on my slope I am considering. With the weather getting warmer - and buggier - I probably won’t order anything else until the fall and I may even wait and pot some of these roses up for early fall planting.

They are up and open and I want to put my plug in for Janet. When I moved to Denver she sent me free roses to start my new garden/ As far as I am concern she and her nursery are the best there is. Now, if she didn't have so many choices I would order again. Every time I go there I find so many I want that I can never decide.

Janet is a great person. The only reasons I don't order from her is that we are buddies of Vintage and don't have to get roses shipped.

I met Janet I. at the BBQ the night before the Seminar at Garden Valley Roses in Petaluma last month; she was a joy to talk to, and, as we used to say fifty years ago, she has no 'side.' And talk about roses lasted way beyond the salad and entrees. Her nursery is the 'heir' of Rose Guardians, apparently with whom I had done business about a decade ago. I had already ordered from Rogue Valley and the roses arrived in very good condition. JimD
