christmas, hollidays and greetings! :-)

photo from last year but it still fits the theme and makes a nice desktop background.

i prefer the solid red poinsettias over all the different pinks, whites, spotted and "crinkled" variations that are also available.

Mora ~ Your loving wishes just came right out of the monitor this morning. They made me feel good. Balsam ~ I feel blessed to have friends here who feel like family to me. We had a nice quiet, Christmas and it felt good. I fixed the other turkey breast from Thanksgiving, along with some cornbread/sausage stuffing from same dinner, made some mashed potatoes, heated up some asparagus spears, had some cranberry sauce and rolls too along with a bottle of white Bordeaux wine. For gravy, I used a can of cream of mushroom soup with marsala added, put that over the stuffing and the turkey breast as they reheated in the oven. Yummy! Of course, we had cookies and candy too during the day. Eggnog with marsala in the morning when we started opening our gifts. ;-) The new year is almost here and I wish all of you here in Cottage Gardens a wonderful year filled with beautiful gardens, good health, happiness and prosperity in all that you do. Thanks, Marylee. He's too young now, but I think he will grow to love it. Merry Christmas to you, too! Thanks, Luvs! Awww, you're so sweet. He's adorable, I must say. lol! I should have taken more close up pictures of it. It was hard to photograph because I coated it in shiny clear poly, several coats, to protect it. The poly bounced the light. yes, dorie, you can hardly see the green leaves for the red ones! ;-)
that is a good-looking composite, terramadre. there is a little bit of wildlife in there for everyone, even "arachnophites". *lol*
have y'all seen those poinsettias with the crinkled red bracts? to my eyes, that is a breeding program gone bad.
they look to be deformed and something i would discourage in the gene pool.
different strokes, i guess.
i think i heard a prediction for snow flurries this weekend up here in north alabama but i hope it waits until i am well on my way back to auburn.
hope everyone is feeling festive and enjoying this special time of the year with you friends and families.

Hi Jeff!

Take away the late-summer drought, and 2005 was a fun gardening season, made even more so by the bottlebrush buckeye and (esp.) the 'Limelight' hydrangea you shared with me this time last year.

Thanks a bunch again! I hope the camellia 'Magnoliaflora' is growing well for you. Have a great New Year!
