Need a Primer on Nutrient Availability and pH

Whilst reading the thread about copperas on roses, it occured to me that I have a hard time keeping rose nutrition straight. Ok, so I get that copperas will lower soil pH (since I just read it. don't know how long I'll retain that information).

Here's a chance to showcase your smarts. I need a primer to use as a sort of flash card for troubleshooting the garden.

Which nutrients are unavailable when the pH is low?

Which nutrients are unavailable when the pH is high?

And for all the varied nutrition problems: describe the poor appearance, what causes it, and what is the treatment? And are those treatments different with different soil types (sand vs. clay), and pH's ?

And are bugs more attracted to one pH level than another, or do they simply land wherever they land?

And fungi, and soil borne bacteria- does pH or soil nutrition affect their ability to multiply and cause damage?

And if you give me a little while, I'll come up with a whole slew of more questions...
