Jude, IIRC, we found it a bit slower than some.
From my own experience, I'd say it won't like really hard pruning.

The DD's that seem to look best around my part of SoCal are the ones that get little attention, and lots of water from the lawn sprinklers.

We had very weather the past couple of weeks. Now that it is cooling down you should see some new growth soon.

M ine are slow growers and slow to flower.

I planted several new roses this year and a few were sort of in shock. They snapped out of it. Give it some time. A month is not long enough. Maybe you could try some B-1.

My Double Delight took a year before it flowered well. The first year I only got a few flowers and they weren't well formed, but the second year was much better.

I have one that was a rescue and it is the only one I have that hasnt flowered yet and the foliage is not growing as strong as the others I have are either...I have not given up on it, but it isnt one of my faves so far.

My DD is one of my best bloomers. It does tend to bloom in flushes, but has one every 3-4 weeks. I think when I first had it, it took a year or two before it really produced. Part of that was because it was a BS magnet and it didn't really thrive until I began a regular spraying program.

I would stick with it, because it's one of the best roses.

Thank you for your help. It helps calm me down. I guess I should be a little more patient. I am looking forward to some beautiful DD's.

I second that DD is one of my best bloomers. I do spray reqularly and dead head to the first set of five leaflets and fertilize. It returns the favor with mulitple flushes of blooms.

Mine was the slowest growing HT in Spring of 08. Karl said to chill and wait, and he was right. It has a wider habit here, versus a tall habit. Year 2 was good and year 3 was great.

Gosh we are impatient when it comes to our roses! If you think of what a rose has to go through to make a bloom..it does take time!

Planted one month ago and you're concerned about repeat flowering already?
Remember the saying, The first year it sleeps, the second year it creeps, the third year it leaps!
Chill and wait. Give it time to grow roots so it can support all those flowers you want.
Planted just one month ago, I'd guess it was a potted bush. I'd also bet you lost some soil from the root ball when you planted it. If so you lost feeder roots that supply moisture to the bush. This moisture carrys the disolved nutrients that help make the flowers. While the bush is settling in, it ceases flower production to concentrate on roots.
I'll be a litle harsh here!
If you want lots of instant flowers quickly, plant annuals. Otherwise, go to the library and get some books on growing roses. Read them so you know what to expect.
Once your Double Delight settles in, it'll reward you with blooms. Just be patient!
Remember too, leaves make the food that make the blooms. Start a preventative fungus spray program to protect and keep the leaves.

Karl, you know what? I am sick of being patient! All of you "rose people" splashing your BLOOMING established rose pictures all over the forum! AHHH! Climbers with 100+ buds and blooms, foliage all green and shiny! (do you polish it?) Hybrid teas with giant, show quality blooms, sprays of blooms with buds nestled between ready to pop when your rosey green thumb comes near.....I QUIT! I am taking Karls advice for the impatient! When I finish this post I AM going to the nursery for a truckload of Phlox!

I think the problem is when we buy a potted rose that is already at least 3 years old we expect it to perform, makes sense. Especially when it has new growth, blooms and buds when bought. You plant it or pot it and DAAAA (that's the rose) it just sits there! Now, not every one sits there acclimating, and storing up goodies for later. Confusion sets in, we wanna be good rose parents, so we ASK questions. And we sooo appreciate your answers! :-)

Planted my Double Delight February 07. April of 08 I had one huge, gorgeous bloom and a couple more. This year the blooms were smaller and the bush has not grown any. I don't expect much more from it and it's a shame since it's such a beautiful rose.

Even if you buy a 3 year old potted bush loaded with buds and blooms, once planted into the ground it will take time to get established. Meanwhile you must fertilize, water, weed, spray for disease if that's your thing, and do all the other things one should do to properly care for a rose bush, if you want it to grow and bloom properly.
WalMart's craft dept. sells silk flowers that can be added to if more blooms and a larger display is desired.
No waiting, deadheading, fertilizing, watering, etc. Insects don't like the material and blackspot is not a problem. They'll even do well in the shade!

Karl, you read my mind! The initial outlay may be steep but in the long run BLOOMS BLOOMS BLOOMS! I don't have to worry about blackspot here, but the powdery mildew! Whew what a pain! Pain no more!
When I first went to my future husbands house he had this wonderful Ficus benjamina tree in the living room. Oh there were a few leaves that had fallen off and were sitting in the pot, but it was a pristine specimen. I was impressed! He said he never fertilized it, never pruned it and on top of that never needed to water it......

I give all roses three FULL years to grow and establish before I start judging them. Some do take of quickly but most do take 3-4 years to really hit their stride. Double Delight is one of those. But, when it is ready just watch out. It is one of my favorite roses and always graces me with huge flushes of beautifully colored and heavenly scented blooms. A couple of others in this category from my experience are Cherry Parfait, Tahitian Sunset, Bride's Dream, Signature, About Face, Sunstruck, and Westminster Pink.
Some quick growers for me have been Liebeszauber, Hopi Girl, Moonstone, Love & Peace, Pop Warner, Mother of Pearl, Summers Kiss, Savoy Hotel, and Pride of England.
But for the most part, slower establishing is generally the rule for most roses. So, like Karl so eloquently put it, be patient.
