I never deadhead anything, and my best rebloomers are Gloire des Rosomanes and "Grandma's Hat." Given reasonable water and very slight fertilization, both bloom at least 7 months out of the year for me. I've had Gloire des Rosomanes on my table at Christmas! Its roots also do very well in California, and go deep, so it tends to take less water than most roses. Both are proven survivors, having been found growing wild in California. "Grandma's Hat" does blackspot badly for me, but it's never close to life threatening, just ugly. Gloire des Rosomanes is utterly clean here, where almost every other China is grey and wrinkly with mildew. I'm happy to grow both; when everything else is out of bloom, one or both come through for me, and keep me from dying of rose starvation.

How they'd take the heat of Z10, though, I couldn't tell you.

Knockout & Carpet roses are carefree, and are always in bloom.

I was curious to see if certain roses I have form hips -- if I was interested in raising seed from them -- so many were left without being dead-headed this year. "Bermuda Spice" is in its second year here, and has had at least one flower on it since blooming began back in late May -- and has not been dead-headed at all this year. 'Perle d'Or', 'Marie Pavie', 'Napoleon', 'Louis Philippe', 'Lady Hillingdon' and 'Mme Laurette Messimy' received the same "treatment", and continued blooming in waves. But only "Bermuda Spice" has been completely without pause.

Two teas, "Westside Road Cream Tea" and 'Le Pactole' bloom frequently without deadheading. So does 'Nastarana', which is almost continuously in bloom, and "Secret Garden Musk Climber". And, of course, there are the Chinas, 'Old Blush' and 'Comtesse du Cayla', never deadheaded.

I did not dead head all summer, drought-did not want to encourage growth and wanted the hips (well other than Don Juan) and they did pretty well on rebloom

I don't deadhead, and the teas are definitely the best re-bloomers in my garden. Duchesse de Brabant cycles about every 4-5 weeks with lots of bloom. Teas get large, and when you do not deadhead them most of them set lovely hips, and keep blooming anyway.

Very occasionally I dead head Mutabilis, but it doesn't seem to matter whether I do or don't. It blooms on and on all year here (10a or b), and I see on HMF it will take shade.
And it will lean on anything handy to get as big as it can.

Clotilde Soupert is a fantastic bloomer. The spent blooms eventually fall off by themselves, but they can turn in to brown clumps before they do that. So I sometimes knock off the brown clumps, but with patience they fall off and it reblooms without deadheading.

I'm a compulsive dead header but I rarely dead head my Home Run and it's always covered in blooms. It gets about 4 x 4 for me over the summer and it's bright red blooms really stand out in the garden. I like it much better than Knock Out. Good disease resistance and hardiness for me too.

I was also going to mention Mutabilis but I see Trish already has. I give it a haircut once in a while to shape it and make it bushier, but deadheading it once it gets large would be pretty tedious. Jackie mentions teas as being constant rebloomers, but I've found that in my climate, which does not have the rain she's blessed with, that is not necessarily true. This summer, in drought conditions, they've shut down almost completely in spite of constant watering. My Bermuda Spice has insignificant blooms for much of the year when it's warmer, although the foliage is always nice. A pity, since it does rebloom very well. I deadhead mine, however.

Given your criteria, Lee, my personal choice would be Mutabilis, since it will grow very large, provided it's watered and gets fertilizer occasionally. It's the only one of my roses that I don't deadhead.

I have a Monsieur Tillier (Tea) I will likely move to this area since he has become too big for his current location.

Others I have considered are Sally Holmes and Perle D'or. Mutabilis is a possibility too. I currently have all 3 of these growing in 15 gal. cloth pots waiting for me to decide the best place to put them. I move them around to see how they do in a spot before I finally decide to plant them in their new home.

Sometimes I suffer from "Paralysis of Analysis" because I dread having to dig them up and move them (like M. Tillier) once they have settled into a home and established a good root system. I fret I will kill them.

I have Grandmother's Hat and her sport Larry Daniels ready to plant in their new locations I've chosen for them.

Also, Le Vesuve, Mrs. B.R. Cant, Madame Antoine Mari and Madame Lambard (aka. Lombard) are ready to go into the ground this fall.

Without a doubt, Duchesse de Brabant, Belinda's Dream , Nacadoches rose, Marie Pavie, Sweet Georgia Peach, the Fairy. And Carefree Beauty. The truth is I have too many roses to deadhead. However, these seem to do their thing without any intervention. The definite winners are Duchess de Brabant and Belinda's Dream.. Both will get to 6 feet tall and 6 ft wide in my garden without pruning.

My most prolific bloomer is Cassie/Snowbelt which blooms almost 12 months of the year here. Does well low water and gets only a few light feedings of fish emulsion and nothing else. I don't deadhead this or any of my other roses. I like seeing the hips as well as providing food for wildlife. Cassie has quite small white flowers which liberally dot the bushy plant. Then sets hundreds of tiny orange-red hips. Flowers drop of cleanly. Foliage absolutely clean year round--not a trace of rust of mildew! Cassie is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet tall.
