Comments (1)You can get leaf compost for free from the city compost pile next to the Botanical Garden. You have to pick out some trash and it tends to be semi-finished, but "free" is hard to beat. Comments (1)Hi Amy, long time no see. I have been getting a truckload of compost every week from the Moore County dump for about about two months now. The stuff is chopped and screened and is GORGEOUS, it even smells good. When I first saw the huge mountains of it I jumped up and down for joy and gave Craig a huge hug and kiss ha. Its free, you just have to truck it out yourself. They have a guy to scoop it at certain times for you. Comments (4)I realize that this isn't what you asked for, and I don't actually have specific knowledge about cattle ranching on that side of the triangle; but in North Carolina, one is never far from some serious rural farming and ranching. Some of these folks need to get rid of their manure. Some go so far as to pile it and turn it so that it becomes compost faster and they sell it at reasonable prices.
